HOLY GHOST AND FIRE

Sunday, May 17, 2020, the Year of Our Lord

Pastor Carolyn Sissom

This year Pentecost 2020 is on May 31st.

During Passover 2020, we the church, experienced the Hand of God as He moved across the earth.  “We the church were laid on an altar of fire as we watched the churches, economies, schools, medical offices, and transportation systems of the nations and cities of the world suddenly close down.

We experienced the reality of God’s word of what He is able to do in one day:

Rev 18:8 - Therefore shall her plagues come in one day, death, and mourning, and famine; and she shall be utterly burned with fire: for strong is the Lord God who judges her.

The “her” described in 18:8 is the judgment of “Mystery Babylon” the queen of all the world’s economies.

As Christians we are persuaded that spiritually the 2020 Passover was perhaps the most significant since Jesus Christ, the Passover Lamb, was crucified on the Cross for the sins of the World.  At least, it is the most spiritually significant of all the generations who are presently on the earth.

Just as Jesus’ Passover catapulted the world into a new spiritual era, the Kingdom of God on earth as it is in Heaven, then we can expect Pentecost 2020 to catapult Christ’s church i.e. His Body into a greater dimension of Christ’s power and glory.

Pentecost 2019, I preached on the Wind of the Holy Spirit from a first hand knowledge of having experienced the manifest supernatural presence of two of God’s Holy Winds: (1) The east wind; (2) The south wind.

I believe in 2020, we are experiencing the Fire of the Holy Ghost.  There is and will be dual manifestations:

  1.  The Baptism of Fire for the repentant with power and glory

  1.  The Holy Ghost fire of judgement for the wicked.

John prophesied concerning Jesus:

Matthew 3: 11-12: I (John) indeed baptize you with water unto repentance: but he (Jesus) that comes after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire:  Whose fan is in his hand, and he will thoroughly purge his floor, and gather his wheat into the garner; but he will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire. (K.J.V.)

John was preaching in the desert of Judah: ‘repent for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.  The people were publicly confessing their sins and John would baptize them in the Jordan River.  He saw many coming from among the Pharisees and Sadducees to witness the baptism.  He said unto them, O generation of vipers, who has warned you to flee from the wrath to come?   Bring forth fruits worthy of repentance:

Who warned you to slither away like snakes from the fire of God’s judgment?  When fire begins to burn, snakes and serpents will be frightened out of their hiding places.   John told them, “you must prove your repentance by a changed life.  Don’t presume you can get away with merely saying, we are Abraham’s descendants.  I tell you God can awaken these stones to become sons of Abraham.

Matthew 3:10: The axe is laid unto the root of the trees: therefore, every tree which does not bring forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.

There is one fire of the Holy Ghost that brings forth two results.

  1. Baptism of fire with power and glory.

  1. Fire of judgment.

Luke 12:49: I (Jesus) am come to send fire on the earth; and what will I, if it be already kindled?

People of God, I am persuaded that “we the church”, and “we the people” are face to face with the fire of the Holy Ghost.

Once we have experienced the Baptism of fire in our lives, and we allow the fire to burn away all our flesh and dross, then we will experience the Baptism of Fire that enables us to become “fire carriers” or “Ministers of fire.”

Heb. 1:7 - And of the angels he said, Who makes his angels spirits, and his ministers a flame of fire.

The fire of God purifies wherever it goes.  Its consuming power is awesome.  When fire confronts the kingdom of darkness, it leaves behind scorched earth and ashes.  The fire of God will burn off everything in our life that is not of God.

1Co. 3:13 Every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is.

1Co. 3:15If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.

Jude 1:7: Even as Sodom and Gomorrah, and the cities about them in like manner, giving themselves over to fornication, and going after strange flesh, are set forth for an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire.

There is no separating the Presence of God from the fire of God; for our God is a consuming fire.

John. 15:6 - If a man does not abide in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned.

Malachi 3:2: Who may abide the day of his coming? And who shall stand when he appears? For he is like a refiner’s fire and like fullers’ soap

I am persuaded the earth is in a day of visitation i.e. a day of his coming.  This is not His second coming when “the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men.” (2 Peter 3:7).  But, it is a day of Christ’s visitation to all nations.

Christians have you not prayed that the LORD would remove ungodly men and women from places of authority over this nation and other oppressing nations?  Have we not prayed that the LORD would bring repentance, revival, and restoration to our nation?  Have you not read of the works of God that He removes the wicked with His judgments and delivers the righteous by the power of His Blood?

The Holy Ghost fire consumes evil and wickedness.

The Holy Ghost fire is a bondage breaker.  The fire of the Holy Ghost is able to deliver God’s kingdom people from all stubborn oppressors.  The fire of the Holy Ghost will give swift victory.  Ancient powers will bow when they come face to face with the fire of the Holy Ghost.  The fire of the Holy Ghost will cause us to escape the fowler’s snare.

1Peter 1:7 That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perishes, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honor and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:

On May 6, 2018, I wrote, “it will take an earthquake entrance of the fiery glory into God’s people and the nations of the earth, for the world to know the difference between religious idolatry and the true church.  The glorious church is wholly comprised of those within whom the fiery presence resides.  Ro. (9: 23-24)

Johnny Enlow in his prophecy of 4/22/19 declares the Word of the Lord that God is separating out those who are “called his Church” from “His Church.”  His glorious church will be “fire carriers,” and “fire throwers.”

Through the attack of the Coronavirus on the nations of the earth, it has had the effect of a world-wide earthquake.

Every major move of God throughout revival history has been from the fire of God burning in the spirit of men.  It is the consuming fire of God.

Elijah was a prophet of fire.  He was Jehovah’s messenger of wrath to a guilty age.  “He stood up as a fire, and his word burned as a lamp”.   The most graphic and memorable incidents in Elijah’s life speak and are illumined with the element and symbol of fire.  It was the empire of Baal---the fire-god---he came to shake and overthrow.  Fire fell at his intercession on the sacrifice at Carmel.  God showed him at Horeb, the reflection of his own character in the fire which preceded the “still small voice.”   He called down fire on the captains of fifties.  In a chariot of Fire he went up to Heaven.   Like a fiery meteor, he appears all at once in the sacred firmament, and as a fiery meteor he vanishes.

‘It seems as if this man had the thunder of the Lord for a soul, and that the element in which he was borne to heaven was the one in which he was brought forth.’  (Lamartine’s Holy Land, vol. i.p. 189)

Divine judgment follows national apostasy.  Individuals may, in this world escape punishment for personal crime, ---but nations never!!!!

In the midst of the battle against the head of the red Chinese dragon, the spirit of Elijah arose and battled this evil. Tuesday, I called forth the Elisha ministry to arise.  Elisha is a testimony of the readiness of God to relieve the distressed, respond to the call of need, heal the sick and resurrect the dead.

In Acts 1:8: You shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you.

Those who receive the Holy Spirit are going to be able to release captives from Satan’s kingdom and transplant (or convey) them into Christ’s Kingdom (Col. 1:13).  No military force or government can do that.  The mouth of the beast and the mouth of the false prophet are trying to capture the minds of men; but these evil forces will never be able to save their souls and transplant people into the glorious power of the Kingdom of God.

The Holy Spirit empowers men and women to:

  1. Cast out devils (Mt. 12:28)

  1. Is the agent of new birth (Jn.3: 5-8)

  1. Takes that which is Jesus’ and brings to us.

  1. Quickens (Jn. 6:63)

  1. It is the Holy Spirit who gives life”; imparts power (Lk. 29:49)

  1. “Knows things of God” (1 Cor. 2:11)

  1. “Imparts gifts to men” (1 Cor. 12: 1-10)

  1. Speaks mysteries through man (1 Cor. 14:2; 14-16).

  1. “Imparts character of God (Gal. 5:22).

  1. “Works miracles” (Rom. 15:19; 1 Cor. 12: Heb. 2:34)

  1.  Can carry man (Acts 8:39)

  1.  Raises the dead; imparts skill, ability and knowledge in all kinds of crafts, etc. etc.

  1.  Helps us to be overcomers.

  1. Instructs angels concerning their ministry to saints.

  1.  Releases the Baptism of fire to purify, cleanse, and bring judgment.

It's the Holy Ghost and fire
Keeping me alive, keeping me alive, keeping me alive
It's the Holy Ghost and fire
Keeping me alive
Jesus is keeping me alive
It's all over me

Isa.  4:5 - And the LORD will create upon every dwelling place of mount Zion, and upon her assemblies, a cloud and smoke by day, and the shining of a flaming fire by night: for upon all the glory shall be a defense.

Zion is the source of continual salvation.  Those who discover Zion know the fullness of salvation, and yet learn day by day more of an increasing fullness.  Zion is the joy of the whole earth experienced already by man, anticipated by others, travailed after by all.  Zion is the source of strength and support for the people of God, especially in the day of trouble.  Zion is the play of God’s presence.

The English language is inadequate to describe the glory of the Fire of the Holy Ghost and the supernatural manifestation of His Glory.  Lord Jesus may “We the Church” carry, walk in, release, embrace, and experience Your Holy Ghost and Fire in greater, and greater power and glory.  May all of this be for your Glory and our love for You.
