FROM THE THRONE OF CHRIST

Sunday, June 28, 2020, the Year of Our Lord

Pastor Carolyn Sissom

God’s precious Covenant ratified by the blood of Jesus, must yet come to ultimate fulness in His people.  The Son must yet receive the reward of the sacrifice.  The Father will continue to prepare a Holy Bride for His Son who is worthy of the very best that God’s grace and the power of the Creator can bring forth.

The Holy Spirit will be faithful in His work in the hearts of men to bring forth a Bride that is worthy of His Son through the merits of His “precious Blood(1 Pet. 1:19).  When the Holy Spirit presents this spotless Virgin (Lev. 21:13) to Christ He will not have to apologize something like this:  “Here is the Bride you wanted Me to procure for your Son---still full of faults and blemishes I know,---but it was the best I could do.”

When Jesus returns in kingly power and dominion, it is not to begin the Kingdom.  He came the first time to do that. He is seated on His throne at the right hand of God the Father continuing to establish his Kingdom on earth.  He remains there until the “precious fruit of the earth” is to be harvested.

Then He comes to cut down the fruitless trees, to root out the tares, to burn up the chaff, to consume the stubble, to bring to total devastation all the works of man: and “to gather the wheat” into His storehouse.

He comes to consume all that is corrupt---socially, politically, economically, religiously, and environmentally.  He comes “to gather out of His Kingdom all things that offend, and them which do iniquity; and shall cast them into a furnace of fire; there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth.  Then shall the righteous shine forth as the sun in the Kingdom of their Father.”

Jesus comes to reap the harvest of the Kingdom, not to start a new one.

Now as we go through these fiery judgments, we can only “see through a glass darkly.”  We must “Be still and know that He is God.”  For He is bringing the nations to devastation that he might be glorified.

Psa. 46: 8-11:   Come, behold the works of the LORD,
Who has made desolations in the earth.

He makes wars cease to the end of the earth;
He breaks the bow and cuts the spear in two;
He burns the chariot in the fire.

Be still, and know that I am God;
I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth.  The L
ORD of hosts is with us;
The God of Jacob
is our refuge. Selah

The whole burden of the New Testament, and especially of the epistles---which came as a result of Christ’s ministration from His heavenly throne---is that the heavenly ministry of the Messiah is “More excellent” than any earthly ministry could ever be (Heb. 8:6).

The “heavenly sanctuary” is better than the earthly one (Psa. 20:6).

The heavenly “Mediator” is better than the earthly one (Heb. 12:24).

The Melchizedek priesthood is better than the Levitical one. (Heb. 10:29)

The New Covenant is better than the old one, which was “weak through the flesh(Ro. 8:3)

The Blood of the New Covenant is better than the blood of bulls and goats.

The Old Covenant was written on tables of stone; the new one on “fleshly tables of the heart” (2 Cor. 3:3)

The blood of bulls and goats merely covered sin for a season---they could never take mankind’s sins away.  In the New Covenant, sins are done away, never to be remembered in Heaven, and never again to defile the conscience of a people that have been purged from dead works to serve the living God.

Right now, there is a Son-of-Man reigning on the greatest and most powerful throne in all of God’s universe.  He is there to subdue all His enemies under His feet.

Zech. 6:13:  Even He shall build the temple of the LORD; AND He shall bear the glory, and shall sit and rule upon His throne; and He shall be a priest upon His throne.

The application of the Blood of Christ to our hearts and minds so erases sin and its scars that we see them no more, even as God sees them no more.

Everything about the ministration of the New Covenant from Messiah’s heavenly throne, is better, better, better.

Rev. 1:5-6: …Jesus Christ the prince of the kings of the earth…who loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood. And has made us kings and priests unto God and his Father

There are not two institutions: a kingdom, and then a priesthood.  Israel failed as a nation to become “a kingdom of priests(Ex. 19:6).  But man’s failure does not frustrate God’s plan and purpose.  After the resurrection of Christ, He did what He had planned and declared to Moses.  He brought forth “a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a peculiar people; that we should show forth the praises of Him who has called you out of darkness into His marvelous light.’

God wants a priestly people who will “reign in life(Ro. 5:17)---a people who are “vessels of mercy(Ro. 9:23)---who will have kingly authority to minister life to others, because of His ministration from the throne.

You have loved righteousness, and hated iniquity; therefore God, even your God, has anointed You with the oil of gladness above your fellows. (Heb. 1:9; Ps. 45: 6-7).

We have many antichrist volunteers for a throne---men who are looking for opportunities to take over earth’s resources and earth’s governments.  We already have within us the One who owns all the authority over heaven and earth.   God’s crowns are for those who will apprehend the anointing of kings and priests.  The only crown of authority on their brow will be a priestly crown of oil.  For the crown of the anointing oil of his God is upon him (Lev. 21:12).

Jesus Christ earned the crown of power by wearing on His brow the crown of thorns.  I will say that Donald J. Trump has earned the crown of power because He has worn on his head the crown of thorns throughout his presidency.  This is not to compare Trump with the deity of Christ.  All those who are anointed for power will participate in the sufferings of Christ that is, if we follow on.

Jesus Christ earned the crown of oil, because He “loved righteousness and hated iniquity.”

Jesus Christ received the scepter of righteousness because He took from the Roman soldier the flimsy reed that was placed in His hand, and suffered the ignominy of a mock coronation.  All this became the first chapter in His coronation as King.

The second chapter took place at His ascension.  It was there that God “set’ His King on Zion, and made Him to the be King of kings and Lord of lords.  He was “set” there to be a Priest on the throne.  His ministry on earth was finished.  He began His Messianic ministry from His throne in the heavens.  The Kingdom of God was not postponed because they slew their King.  It was the slaying of the King that became the first chapter of His coronation in the heavens.  The long-expected Messiah is reigning upon a throne far superior to the one His people had planned for Him.  His throne is far above any earthly throne.

From Christ’s throne, He is pouring forth unto His people the blessings of the Messianic ministry in the earth.  Salvation from sin and the pouring out of the Holy Spirit upon His people is the first and foremost of the blessings bestowed by our Messiah, King Jesus.

This salvation is for all nations breaking the “wall of partition.”  In this new life, it doesn’t matter if you are a Jew or a Gentile, circumcised or uncircumcised, barbaric, uncivilized, slave, or free. Christ is all that matters, and he lives in all of us. (Col. 3:11).

When the enmity against our fellow man is no longer in our hearts, then and only then have we become a part of God’s one “holy nation,” and are partakers together of the Unity of the One New Man.

He has a priestly people walking in union with Him, who continue to pray, “Thy Kingdom come, that will be done, on earth as it is in Heaven.”

Our King Jesus has cut covenant with us and is mediating on our behalf from His throne.

Heb 12:24 - And to Jesus the mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling, that speaks better things than that of Abel.

The covenant made to Abraham went from generation to generation and became a Testament.  The New Testament is the better blood of the death of the Testator, Jesus Christ that speaks better things.   The Testator bestowed upon us the fullness of the Old Testament plus the New Testament.

The Lord’s Blood is our mediator and speaks on our behalf before the accuser of the brethren.  The Lord’s Blood seals the promises of the Bible revealing the strength and tenacity of our binding relationship with Him through His Testament.    He cannot fail.  His resources and power are for the asking.  His fidelity can be depended upon.  He defends against all enemies.   Father God gave his own Son as satisfaction for this covenant---not the blood of bulls and goats, but his own blood.  He has given each participant HIS NAME.

He shares the throne-room secrets with us, and calls us sons and daughters.  When Jesus said, “Take eat, this is my body which was broken for you.  Take and drink, this is my blood which is shed for you.”  The disciples would have understood clearly what Jesus was telling them.   This is the blood of the New Covenant.  His brethren put Him on as a garment; we have His Sword of the Spirit, and our enemies are His enemies.

In the East, exchange of coats symbolized the character and honor of the person wearing it.  The exchange of swords or weaponry was to pledge that the one possessing it would protect the rightful owner’s family in the same manner and reliability as his own.  There was an exchange of wealth, i.e. the Lord promises Abraham all the land from the river of Egypt to the river of the Euphrates.

Psa. 24:1:The earth is the LORD'S, and the fulness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein

In Middle Eastern culture, the final witness between two parties was the bread and the wine.  The two parties before the assembled witnesses partook of a symbolic meal.  Each broke bread and gave to the other as a token he was willing to break his body in defense of the other.  Wine was shared as a token that their blood would be willingly shed for each other.  (The Lord’s Supper is a powerful meal.  When we take it with Jesus, we consummate the covenant and receive His Testament.)

John 14:7-9:  If you had known Me, you should have known My Father also; and from henceforth you know Him, and have seen Him.  Because of Jesus’ shed blood, we can sit down at the Father’s table in His House and talk with Him face to face.

Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus. By a new and living way, which He has consecrated for us, through the veil, that is to say, His flesh; and having a high priest over the house of God; Let us draw near with a true heart and full assurance of faith

My Father’s house is the house of God.

Jesus Christ restored everything that we lost in Adam.  He restored the mind, the name, the inheritance, the blessing and the glory of the Kingdom.  Jesus’ once-for-all triumph over all enemies now enables Christians to live, minister, and experience life as joint heirs with Christ Jesus.  We become restorers, rebuilders, and reconcilers.

His life becomes our life.  This is why we will live with Him forever.  By virtue of His indwelling, the atonement is accomplished in us the moment we receive Him, whereas it was accomplished at Calvary.

And here is My legacy---peace. The peace I give you is My own and therefore, not at all like that which the world gives.  So, don’t let your hearts be distressed or dismayed.

Jesus gives us His Testament (inheritance) to those who will love Him and receive His blood covenant.  He gives to us His own peace.  Jesus not only leaves the peace-legacy as an estate, but returns to give it to His heirs.  He is the Executor of His own will.

From the throne of god above

Before the throne of God above
I have a strong, a perfect plea
A great high Priest whose Name is Love
Who ever lives and pleads for me
My name is graven on His hands
My name is written on His heart
I know that while in heaven He stands
No tongue can bid me thence depart
No tongue can bid me thence depart
