POEM: THE ROSE BY; APRIL CAMPBELL Print E-mail

The Rose by April Campbell (c) 2000

  Look there, beyond the fence.

The rose is blooming in silent splendor.

She sings the song of humble beauty

and does not call for us to answer.

She does not boast of her greatnes

She is; and that is enough.

We are the ones who pick her, parade her and

ultimately win prizes for her loviliness.

She reminds us to think of the whatsoever things

things brimming over abundantly with pureness and goodness.

Although the very atmosphere she lives in is

polluted by course sound waves and smog...

   Still...

   she blooms beyond the fence.

Look there, and let us learn.
