Seeing the Invisible

16 Therefore we do not lose heart. Even though our outward man is perishing, yet the inward man is being renewed day by day. 17 For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory, 18 while we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal.

Paul was stoned left for dead, perils of robbers, imprisoned, etc.  - more adversity than you and I.  You & I are not justified in not praising God. Satan’s deception, elaborate systems, psychology takes blame away from person and blames it on someone or something else (color skin, age, sex, parents, family, teacher, neighbor, coworker, etc.).  You have a choice -choose to be bitter or better.  My mom was a single parent, my father was an alcoholic, etc. so what? There is always something to praise the Lord for, move on and let the Lord be your Father.

Yet, Paul considered it a light affliction was because of his perspective.  He knew he had eternal life and eternally will be with the Lord.

Look at the spiritual – if devil is doing something then you can bet God is doing something, too. Praise will push you into a spiritual realm to see what God has done for you.

Habakkuk 3:17-18

New King James Version (NKJV)

A Hymn of Faith

17 Though the fig tree may not blossom,
Nor fruit be on the vines;
Though the labor of the olive may fail,
And the fields yield no food;
Though the flock may be cut off from the fold,
And there be no herd in the stalls—
18 Yet I will rejoice in the Lord,
I will joy in the God of my salvation.

Doom, gloom, judgment - rejoicing is a decision.  Our society has lied to us – if I feel bad I can’t help it I have to be discouraged.  These feelings have to discourage me.  NOT TRUE.

Proverbs 23:7-8

New King James Version (NKJV)

For as he thinks in his heart, so is he

Reject negative emotions – choose positive, stay mind on God, faith abounds, and we are in perfect peace.

Society glorifies the negative.  Focus on the positive. Murmurer. Complainers.  Not your hormones that make you depressed.  Stinkin Thinkin. Suicidal.  Depressed. Guilt ridden. Or choose to forgive and praise God.
