KINGDOM AUTHORITY OVER PLAGUES

KINGDOM AUTHORITY OVER PLAGUES

SUNDAY, 3/1/20, the Year of our Lord

Pastor Carolyn Sissom

I am persuaded we have moved from fighting the enemies of the Kingdom of God to possessing and recovering what the enemy stole from us in the days of our captivity.

We have been given not only the weapons of warfare to destroy the enemies of God’s Kingdom on earth; but through the Cross of Jesus, by faith, we are now to apprehend the power of the Blood of Jesus to take back what the enemy stole from us.  We are in a time of Grace to advance and possess the Kingdom of God on earth as it is in Heaven.

The CHURCH came to Kadesh-Barnea between 1900-1910.  Pentecostals refused to go any further and built their fenced cities between 1910-1920.  The Church came to Kadesh-Barnea again in 1948.  Perhaps this time around the mountain some Caleb will arise and declare, “Let us go up at once, and possess it; for we are well able to overcome it.”  Some will want to stone him, but he will live long enough to take their children in. (Josh 14).

Deut. 9:23 - Likewise, when the LORD sent you from Kadesh Barnea, saying, ‘Go up and possess the land which I have given you,' then you rebelled against the commandment of the LORD your God, and you did not believe Him nor obey His voice.

We have been through two terrible wars within our nation of Satan trying to overthrow the government.  Now, Satan is trying to destroy through a plague.  We must agree with the Prophet, this will be disruptive, but not catastrophic.

We have been given the authority over plagues through the Blood of Christ.

In Numbers 16, there is the account of a plague was stopped by taking a fire-pan/censer from the fire of the Brazen altar and putting incense on it, then sprinkling it over the people.   The fire from the altar was of divine origin.

The divine fire fell in Lev. 9:24: Fire came out from before the LORD and consumed the burnt offering and the fat on the altar. When all the people saw it, they shouted and fell on their faces.

We know from our study of Heaven that there are coals of fire before the throne of God.

2Sa 22:13 - From the brightness before Him, Coals of fire were kindled.

Eze 1:13 - As for the likeness of the living creatures, their appearance was like burning coals of fire, like the appearance of torches going back and forth among the living creatures. The fire was bright, and out of the fire went lightning.

Eze 10:2 - Then He spoke to the man clothed with linen, and said, “Go in among the wheels, under the cherub, fill your hands with coals of fire from among the cherubim, and scatter them over the city.”

Satan as the King of Tyrus was once a guardian cherub who walked upon the stones of fire before the throne of God.

Ez. 28:14: You are the anointed cherub that covers; and I have set you so: you were upon the holy mountain of God; you have walked up and down in the midst of the stones of fire.

Through the Cross (the Brazen Altar), and the Priesthood of Jesus Christ, we have been given this same authority over the plagues.

Heb 8:3 -6: For every high priest is appointed to offer both gifts and sacrifices. Therefore, it is necessary that this One also have something to offer.

For if He were on earth, He would not be a priest, since there are priests who offer the gifts according to the law;

who serve the copy and shadow of the heavenly things, as Moses was divinely instructed when he was about to make the tabernacle.   For He said, See that you make all things according to the pattern shown you on the mountain.

But now He has obtained a more excellent ministry, inasmuch as He is also Mediator of a better covenant, which was established on better promises.

People of God through the life of Christ within us, we have been given great and precious promises that we may be partakers of Christ’s divine nature established on better promises.

Num 16:46 -50:  So, Moses said to Aaron, “Take a censer and put fire in it from the altar, put incense on it, and take it quickly to the congregation and make atonement for them; for wrath has gone out from the LORD. The plague has begun.”

Then Aaron took it as Moses commanded, and ran into the midst of the assembly; and already the plague had begun among the people. So, he put in the incense and made atonement for the people.

And he stood between the dead and the living; the plague was stopped.

Now those who died in the plague were fourteen thousand seven hundred, besides those who died in the Korah incident.

So, Aaron returned to Moses at the door of the tabernacle of meeting, for the plague had stopped.

The fire and ashes from the altar speak of the finished work and complete sacrifice of Jesus Christ.  Our Lord and Savior made complete atonement for us.

The plague came because of murmuring and rebellion in the camp.  I can’t say why the Coronavirus has come except we know the sins of China are piled high with the persecution of Christianity, corruption and killing of their people.  The Lord is bringing the destiny of nations into His Divine order.

After the people had wanted to stone Caleb in chapter 13 and we see the divine sentence in Numbers 14: 26-29, there was to be death in the wilderness wanderings.  A year for every day they spied out the land was the penalty.  To kill that many people would later require 100 funerals per day!  Israel’s failure here is an awesome warning.

In Numbers 16, Korah and his company were an influential group of ambitious and envious men.  They challenged the authority of Moses and attempted to intrude into the Priestly office.  They accused Moses for that which they themselves were guilty, and blamed him for the consequences of their own unbelief.  (This is happening in our national government.)

Korah, Dathan, Abiram, and 250 of the famous men of renown attempted to create a priestly order.  (“We have a ministry”) apart from God’s sanction.  Each brought his censer (prayer) and filled it with fire.  The fire of rebellion is “strange fire (Lev. 10:1).

As I was going through my correspondence file last night looking for the Thomas Kincaid letter, I ran across a letter I wrote to a friend about the rebellion at Eastgate on March 29, 1997.  I experienced the rebellion of Korah in the church in Baton Rouge before I moved to Houston and I quote:

“In the midst of all this warfare, the LORD wrote before me in large black letters a vison: ‘THIS IS MY CHURCH.”  My heart had been broken twice over.  I talked to Prophet Roger Teale.  He said, ‘Those who would run you off will face the judgment of throwing a Prophet out of the Temple and if you do not stand, you will face the judgment of fearing the people instead of God.  Their motive is they want your position.’  Many have stood with me, Bob Anderson, Stanley Rankin, Jon Nelson, Rita Bullock, Jerry and Joyce Labiche; and many others whom I had not known came and encouraged me” (end of quote written by Carolyn Sissom 3/29/97).

It is consequential that I received the gift of the “Garden of Promise” print this week and through searching my old files found the above Word of the Lord from Prophet Roger Teale.

Jus’ sayin’ it has been a very long time since I was challenged by a Korah to “take-over” or “run me off.”  I am blessed with the ministry in Texas and wonderful people in our church family.

In Numbers 16, the plague was a punishment of rebellion.  The GLORY of the LORD appeared (19) and dealt with the three ringleaders, who were swallowed by an earthquake and went down alive into Sheol.  Contrast this with the Overcomer who shall be translated without seeing physical death.  Though they made “Strange Fire”, fire consumed the 250 in verse 35, but the sons of Korah were spared. (Num. 36: 9-11).

The Brazen censes of the rebels were hammed out into broad plates to cover the altar as a memorial of this uprising (36-40).  Note the incredible stubbornness and persistence of sin (41-42) and the wrath of God (43-47).  The plague destroyed 14, 700 people.

I believe we are in a time when there will be a separation of those who call themselves the Church and those who are God’s Church.  These are serious times.  We must not be rebellious against God; but walk closely with Him in these days.

Chapter 17 reveals the principle of God’s chosen priesthood.  The principles revealed pertain to the Melchisedec order of the New Testament.  Aaron is a type of the Priesthood of Jesus Christ, who stands between the living and the dead (Num. 16: 46-50).  Each tribal leader was required to present an ALMOND rod in-scripted with his name on the rod.  All the tribal heads brought dead rods.  The Lord caused life to spring up within Aaron’s rod, a type of Jesus in His resurrection, acknowledged and exalted by God to be High Priest (Heb. 4:14).  The rebellious had proof of God’s choice.  Aaron’s rod was then placed in the ARK of the Covenant as a Memorial of the uprising of Korah (Heb. 9:4).

The Almond tree was a firstfruits tree.  We see the principle of resurrection, for this tree was called “the Hastener.”  It describes the Melchisedec ministry of Jesus and His full brothers.  The overcomer is a firstfruits ministry unto God and the Lamb.

These truths pertain to the Ark of the Covenant, the Holy of Holies, and the triumphant overcomer.
