THE LORD REIGNS BY DEACONESS LUCY BEATON

The Lord Reigns!                                                                        October 13, 2024

Revelation 22:13 Amplified Bible

13 I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End [the Eternal One].”

16 “I, Jesus, have sent My angel to testify to you and to give you assurance of these things for the churches. I am the Root (the Source, the Life) and the Offspring of David, the radiant and bright Morning Star.”

Revelation of our reigning Lord through Davids vision

Psalm 93:1 Amplified Bible The Majesty of the Lord.

93 The Lord reigns, He is clothed with majesty and splendor; The Lord has clothed and encircled Himself with strength; the world is firmly established, it cannot be moved.

·        God is formidable.

·        All that He has clothed Himself with, is of His origin and power and not from another source.

·        God has established the world by His creative power, and it is still held together by His spoken word and held in His hands.

·        And as God watches over this blue-green planet, so is He mindful of His masterpiece – mankind.

·        The Lord reigns!

Psalm 96:10 Amplified Bible

10 Say among the nations, “The Lord reigns; Indeed, the world is firmly and securely established, it shall not be moved; He will judge and rule the people with fairness.”

·        1 Chronicles 16:31 Amplified Bible

Let the heavens be glad, and let the earth rejoice; And let them say among the nations, “The Lord reigns.”

·        John 3:16-18  NKJV

16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. 17 For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.

18 “He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

·        God’s judgement and rule is fair – God Gave and man must respond – that is believe or not believe on the Lord Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord

o   Believe = no judgment, no rejection, no condemnation because they have trusted on the One who is truly unique, the only One of His kind, the One who alone can save us.

o   Not Believe = a person has decided to reject Jesus as personal Savior and Lord, is judged by their own actions and has been convicted and sentenced because they have not believed and trusted in the name of the One and only begotten Son of God.

·        It is God who reigns and Part of our Gospel message is “The Lord reigns!

Psalm 99:1 Amplified Bible Praise to the Lord for His Fidelity to Israel.

The Lord reigns, let the peoples tremble [with submissive wonder]! He sits enthroned above the cherubim, let the earth shake!

·        The Lord governs the world by His providence and His church by His grace, and both by His Son, Jesus.

·        The Lord governed from His throne, above the cherubim, exalted yet speaking to man through His anointed ones before Jesus life, death and resurrection, But today He speaks to us by His Spirit within us.

·        The Lord governs His church in grace – forgiveness for repentance, faithfulness, loyalty, and trustworthiness.

·        Our Lord Jesus’ triumph and living presence among us, His church, is also our triumph, He reigns!

·        We worship and adore our gracious Gather, Son and Holy Spirit.

Revelation 11:15 Amplified Bible The Seventh Trumpet—Christ’s Reign Foreseen

15 Then the seventh angel sounded [his trumpet]; and there were loud voices in heaven, saying,

“The kingdom (dominion, rule) of the world has become the kingdom of our Lord and of His Christ; and He will reign forever and ever.”

·        Loud praise and acclamations from the angels and saints to our God and Savior recognizing God’s rule and reign over all the world.

·        Thanksgiving is given to God for His taking His great power to rule and reign.

·        And rejoicing that He shall reign forever and nothing can take the scepter out of God’s hand.

Revelation 19:5-6 Amplified Bible - Marriage of the Lamb

5 Then from the throne came a voice, saying, “Praise our God, all you bond-servants of His, you who fear Him, the small and the great!”

Then I heard something like the shout of a vast multitude, and like the boom of many pounding waves, and like the roar of mighty peals of thunder, saying, “Hallelujah! For the Lord our God, the Almighty, the Omnipotent, the Ruler of all reigns.

·        This speaks to me of an exhortation and commanding – to all people – common or distinguished or those who consider themselves elite – The Lord God Reigns!

·         “Hallelujah! For our Lord God Almighty reigns!”   This is the keynote of the whole book.  Though the enemies of God rage against His people like savage beasts and great Babylon exults in her insolence.  Jesus remains supreme, “keeping watch above His own” and ready to call His foes to account when their rebellion has passed the point of no return.  “Reigns” is in the present tense as in Psalm 93:1: The Lord reigns.  He is clothed with majesty.  The Lord has clothed and girded Himself with strength; indeed, the world is firmly established, and it will not be moved. (C.Sissom)

·        We sing songs with words saying: “There is no one else like You!” or “Nothing compares to You!” – this loud shout, boom of many pounding waves or mighty thunder – overwhelms any thought of any other One who is to be worshipped.

1 Chronicles 16:31 Amplified Bible

31 Let the heavens be glad, and let the earth rejoice; And let them say among the nations, “The Lord reigns.”

·        David knew that it is God who reigns and because God reigns supreme, God had been the One who had helped him fight the lion and the bear and watched over him as he tended the sheep. There was nothing outside the realm of God’s reigning power.

·        Because David knew God reigned and as David gave glory and honor to God publicly in the face of the taunts of the giant Goliath, David knew that God would demonstrate His reigning power and majesty against Goliath. And The Lord did – because He reigns!

·        David knew that it was God who reigned that God had made David king of Israel.

·        And because God reigns, David the reigning king, exalted the Lord who reigns over all, so he brought the Ark of God’s presence into a place where The Lord who reigns would be honored.

·        David wrote Psalm 93 when the Ark of God had been brought into the tent, the place David had prepared for it. This was now a public place in the royal city, and not in an obscure country setting.

·        Psalm 93 is a Psalm of praise “The Lord reigns!”

·        We like David, knowing “The Lord reigns,” can live in the expectation of God’s supreme reigning work in our lives and in our world.

·        Because “The Lord reigns” and He lives in us and us in Him Acts 17:28 Amplified Bible For in Him we live and move and exist [that is, in Him we actually have our being], - we live as kings ruling and reigning in Him.

·        We live decreeing and declaring that “The Lord reigns!”

·        Job 22:28 Amplified Bible

“You will also decide and decree a thing, and it will be established for you;
And the light [of God’s favor] will shine upon your ways.

·        David declared the Lord’s reigning as he stood before Goliath, and God slew the giant.

·        David lived as a king even before he sat on the throne, because he was a king in God.

We are kings and priests to God, because He has made us kings and priests to Himself.

Revelation 1:4-6 NKJV

John, to the seven churches which are in Asia:

Grace to you and peace from Him who is and who was and who is to come, and from the seven Spirits who are before His throne, and from Jesus Christ, the faithful witness, the firstborn from the dead, and the ruler over the kings of the earth. To Him who loved us and washed us from our sins in His own blood, and has made us kings and priests to His God and Father, to Him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.

·        Jesus having washed us from our sins by His blood has also made us kings and priests to God  and because of these great honors and favor (Matthew Henry) we ascribe dominion and glory to God forever because He reigns .

o   As kings we overcome the world.

o   As priests we have access to God.

·        He is All in all, King of kings and Lord of lords, forever and ever.

Hymn:  Robert Grant

1.   O worship the King all-glorious above, O gratefully sing his power and his love:
our shield and defender, the Ancient of Days,

pavilioned in splendor and girded with praise.

2.   O tell of his might and sing of his grace, whose robe is the light, whose canopy space.
His chariots of wrath the deep thunderclouds form,
and dark is his path on the wings of the storm.

3.   Your bountiful care, what tongue can recite?
It breathes in the air, it shines in the light;
it streams from the hills, it descends to the plain,
and sweetly distills in the dew and the rain.

4.   Frail children of dust, and feeble as frail, in you do we trust, nor find you to fail.
Your mercies, how tender, how firm to the end,
our Maker, Defender, Redeemer, and Friend!

5.   O measureless Might, unchangeable Love, whom angels delight to worship above!
Your ransomed creation, with glory ablaze,
in true adoration shall sing to your praise!

·        All Christians become priests to God in order to offer spiritual sacrifices and pleasing God – bringing sacrifices of praise.

Revelation 5:9-10 NKJV

And they sang a new song, saying:

“You are worthy to take the scroll, And to open its seals; For You were slain,
And have redeemed us to God by Your blood out of every tribe and tongue and people and nation, 10 And have made us kings and priests to our God; And we shall reign on the earth.”

Christ, the Lord who reigns, lives in us, me and you.

1 John 4:4 NKJV

You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.

Revelation 12:11 NKJV

11 And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death.

·        We overcome because our Lord Jesus has already overcome.

·        We overcome because the greater One lives in us.

·        It is not about loving our life, but being dead to self and alive to God in Christ Jesus.

Colossians 1:15-16 Amplified Bible

15 He is the exact living image [the essential manifestation] of the unseen God [the visible representation of the invisible], the firstborn [the preeminent one, the sovereign, and the originator] of all creation. 16 For by Him all things were created in heaven and on earth, [things] visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities; all things were created and exist through Him and for Him.

·        This is our Lord who Reigns!

·        And because He reigns, yes, “The Lord Reigns!” we reign in and through Him and with Him.

The Lord Reigns! Yes, The Lord Reigns!
