JEZREEL (Hos. 2:19-23)

“Jezreel is God’s promise to the earth that He will have a faithful Bride, and that when He finds her, He will sow Her in the earth.”
The ministry of Eastgate Church is found in Hosea 6:1-3: Come and let us return to the LORD; for he has torn, but He will heal us. He has stricken, but He will bind us up. After two days He will revive us. On the third Day He will raise us up that we may live in His sight. Let us know. Let us pursue the knowledge of the LORD. His gong forth is established as the morning. He will come to us like the rain, like the latter and former rain to the earth.
Hosea was an 8th century B.C. prophet in Israel.
1:1: The Word of the LORD that came to Hosea the son of Been… in the days of Uzziah, Jotham, Ahaz, and Hezekiah, kings of Judah, and in the days of Jeroboam the son of Joash, king of Israel.
Hosea and Amos are the prophets who ministered in Israel.
Joel, Micah, Isaiah, Obadiah, Nahum, Habakkuk Zephaniah, and Jeremiah are the prophets who ministered in Judah.
The five periods of repentance and restoration among the kings of Judah point to the present day of Restoration.
Israel was prone to political alliances rather than trust in the LORD. The two things are connected as treaties between nations involved mutual acceptance of national gods. The people’s confidence in military strength is denounced and in the leadership of the non-Davidic monarchy, which is seen as a manifestation of self-reliance and a rejection of God.
4:6: My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge because you have rejected knowledge.
4:11: Harlotry, wine and new wine enslave the heart. (a description of addiction).
6:6: For I desire mercy and not sacrifice, and the knowledge of God more than burnt offerings.
8;1: They set up kings, but not by Me; they made princes, but I did not acknowledge them.
11:5:..,.the Assyrian shall be his king because they refused to repent.
12:1b: Also, they made a covenant with the Assyrians and oil is carried to Egypt.
Although Isaiah is frequently called “The Evangelical Prophet”. Outside the New Testament is divine Evangelical grace more set forth more vividly than in Hosea. He foretells the New Covenant one hundred years before Jeremiah. Hos. 2:14-20 is the focus of today’s study and a presentation of the preservation of God’s unmerited mercy; (11:8) the anticipation and wonder of Calvary; a graphic picture of marriage as a simile of God’s relationship with His people, richly developed in the concept of the church as the Bride of Christ; and a story of a prodigal wife, richer in gospel truth than Luke 15. Throughout we hear the authentic note of all scripture---the call to trust God and walk worthily of Him.
3:4-5: The children of Israel shall abide many days without king or prince, without sacrifice of sacred pillar; without ephod or teraphim. Afterward the children of Israel shall return and seek the LORD their God and David their king. They shall fear the LORD and His goodness in the latter days.
Hosea’s first born son was named Jezreel by the LORD.
Hosea 1:4-5: The LORD said unto him, “Call his name Jezreel; for yet a little while, and I will avenge the blood of Jezreel upon the house of Jehu, and will cause to cease the kingdom of the house of Israel. It shall come to pass that I will break the bow of Israel in the valley of Jezreel.
Jezreel: “God will scatter or sow.” The meaning was that God would scatter Israel and sow them in all lands; and when His purpose for this was complete, He would again sow them in their own land.
Jehu had carried out god’s judgment on the house of Ahab; then he went into the same sins for which he had judged Ahab (2 Ki. 20:31-26). This total destruction of the house of Ahab is called the day of Jezreel.

“Jezreel means God will sow.”
“For great will be the day of Jezreel.” (1:11b)
Lord Jesus, please visit us and pour righteousness upon the people.
“Jezreel is God’s promise to the earth that He will have a faithful Bride, and that when He finds her, He will sow Her in the earth.”
“Jezreel is God’s promise to humanity that His Holy Name shall no longer be blasphemed among the nations because of the unfaithfulness of His people…because of the unfaithfulness of an adulterous Bride.”
“Jezreel is God’s promise to the world that when His Bride is cleansed and made holy, he will sow her in the earth. That she might reproduce her Holy Seed in the earth. God does not sow dead seed. He sows a living seed. If God sows a living and righteous seed in the earth, he does so that he might reap a harvest after the kind of the seed that he planted.”
Hosea 2:19-23: I will betroth you to me forever; yes, I will betroth you to me in righteousness, and in judgment, and in loving-kindness and in mercies. I will even betroth you to me in faithfulness: and you shall know the LORD. And it shall come to pass in that day, “I will hear, says the Lord, I WILL HEAR THE HEAVENS, AND THEY SHALL HEAR THE EARTH; And the earth shall hear the corn, and the wine, and the oil, and they shall hear Jezreel. And I will sow her for Myself in the earth; and I will have mercy upon her that had not obtained mercy; then I will say to them which were not my people, You are my people; and they shall say, “You are my God.”
HEAVEN SPEAKS AND EARTH RESPONDS. I believe as we are watching the four winds of God move across the earth, the Heavens are astir as the earth cries out for righteousness and judgment.
And the Heavens hear… and they respond to the cries of the earth. The apostle Paul tells us that the whole creation is groaning and travailing in birth-pangs for deliverance. And the hearers are alerted to the cries of the earth, and God is preparing sons, in the same school of obedience in which He prepared His only begotten Son, to be revealed in the day that he has appointed for the earth’s deliverance.
(Vs.21) I will hear says the Lord. I will hear the heavens, and they shall hear the earth, and the earth shall hear the corn and the wine, and the oil and they shall hear Jezreel.
God has made a provision in the earth to bring forth true fruitfulness. In harvest time, we are looking for fruit. Not just any kind of fruit, but top-quality fruit. Now God is the Husbandman. and He is looking for top-quality. He calls this the precious fruit of the earth. He is waiting for that. He has waited for many centuries. We would think He would have reaped the harvest long ago, when revival fires were sweeping over many places in the earth. But God has continued to wait. It must be the harvest for which he is waiting is top-quality…the very best that he, the Great Gardener is able to bring forth.
This all starts with the betrothal of the Bride to the Bridegroom. I believe that there has been a betrothal and we are beginning to see this “quality fruit” come forth in the earth. This betrothal sat into motion an intricate series of movements in which Heaven and Earth respond one to the other and react and interact the one with the other…and another. and still another.
God says, “I will betroth thee unto me in” righteousness, and judgment.” For he must cleanse and purify His people. This is the first stage of the betrothal. Then “loving-kindness and mercies” follow that.
This produces “faithfulness” on the part of the Bride. God is always faithful, but it is going to take an administration of righteousness and judgment by God to make His Bride faithful.
And then she comes to know the Lord. Before that she knows the Lord as Savior, Healer, Blesser, Giver, etc. But she falls short of God’s desire. Do you want to know the Lord because of what he does to and for us or because of who he is, the Great and the Omnipotent and the Sovereign Lord of the Universe – and of your own heart.
All this starts in the heavens. The earth is apprehended, then a chain reaction of life is set in motion.
“I will hear the heavens and they shall hear the earth.” Heaven wants to pour forth of her blessings upon a needy world and it seems to be her cry: “Give me rain for the earth, Oh Lord…the earth is famishing…give me rain for the earth.”
“And they (heavens) shall hear the earth.” The earth finally realizes her plight. God said He was going to send a famine on the earth, not of bread or water, but of hearing the words of the Lord (Amos 8:11). The famine is upon us. There is no respect for the Word of God or the Name of God among worldly people and even among those who call themselves Christians. “Come O’ Heavens and pour righteousness upon your people! We are perishing for lack of the living bread!” Ah ha, but the Babylonian church system is not crying for God to pour out righteousness upon the people. They are crying for a Harvest that will bring in more people, popularity, fame, and money to finance their ministries.
And the heavens hear---and they respond to the cries of the earth. The apostle tells us that the whole creation is groaning and travailing in birth-pangs—she groans for deliverance… and because Heaven has responded to earth, earth is able to respond to the corn and the wine and the oil.
But our God waits. He is looking for top-quality, “the precious fruit” (Jas. 5:7).
When the cries of the earth are for righteousness, then Heaven hears and responds to the cries of the earth. Earth is able to respond to the corn and the wine and the oil. Their granaries are empty. The winepress is empty. The oil vats are empty. And they cry to the earth, “Fill us with wine. Fill us with corn…Fill us with oil.
There is new growth in the barren and desolate earth. There is corn of the living bread which strengthens man’s heart. There is the wine that makes glad the heart of man. There is the oil of His anointing, that causes the face of man to shine with His Glory. The shining forth of the anointing from the face of God’s people will bring about His mighty workings in the earth.
Jezreel begins to cry out…

The purpose of the Holy Spirit coming to abide in His people is to “guide us into all truth (Jn. 16:13). He wills to lead us into the spiritual realms where we are seated with Christ in the heavenlies. If we are faithful to be led of the Lord into living truth, then we will be hidden with Christ in God. He will lead us into the heart of God and into perfect love.
Then the Bride cries out to the heavens –
“Sow me in the earth…. sow me in the earth.” And God hears the cries of His beloved and sows her in the earth that she might reproduce her kind in the earth.
The Word says, “I will sow her into the earth.” God’s Holy Bride longs to be fruitful in the earth. She is not selfishly looking forward to an easy way of escape. She longs to be down in the earth so she might bring forth fruit in the lives of others.
She is sown into the polluted earth which is good soil for the Good Seed of the Living Truth. Broken lives are touched with the gentleness, the mercies, and the love of the Holy Bride of Christ.
We are in the midst of the moving of the Four Winds of Heaven (Jer. 49:36, Zec. 2:6). It is not enough that earth hears our teaching, preaching, and prophesying. There must be a fusion of Heaven and earth to stir a chain-reaction of the Spirit and the Bride in the earth.
“Come from the four winds O Breath” (Ez. 37:9). No matter how powerful our prophecy might be, it must penetrate the heavens before the kingdoms of men are torn down and they kingdom of heaven is established on earth in their place.
Earth fears no words from mere preachers, nor from self-styled prophets. Earth fears when an Ezekiel speaks and prays. Kings feared when Elijah spoke—and prayed. Felix trembled when Paul spoke. When God’s glory rested on the Church in Jerusalem, people feared to be around unless their hearts were repentant before God.
We know that God’s purpose in pouring out His judgments on the earth is that the inhabitants of the earth may learn righteousness. These voicers delight in mercy. The earth is shaken to its foundations because of the voice that thunders forth from the throne through humble, insignificant, broken, but approved, vessels of mercy.
2 Co. 3:9: For if the ministration of condemnation be glory, much more does the ministration of righteousness exceed in glory.
Phil 1:11: Being filled with the fruits of righteousness which are by Jesus Christ, unto the glory and praise of God.
Isa. 58:8: Then shall your light break forth as the morning, and your health shall spring forth speedily and your righteousness shall go before you, the glory of the LORD shall be your rereward.
Isa. 62:2: The Gentiles shall see your righteousness, and all kings your glory and you shall be called by a new name, which the mouth of the LORD shall name.
