The Peace Offering
speaks of Jesus Christ our Peace. Eph.
2:14: “For He is our peace, who has made
both one, and has broken down the middle wall of partition between us; by
abolishing in his flesh the law with its commandments and regulations. His purpose was to create in himself one new
man out of the two, thus making peace, and in this one body to reconcile both
of them to God through the cross, by which he put to death their
hostility. He came and preached peace to
you who were far away and peace to those who were near.”
The Peace Offering
was the most joyous of all offerings, and sets forth the whole work of God
relative to the believer’s peace with God.
the Cross of Christ is revealed.
It has effected reconciliation between God and man, making it possible
for believers to enjoy fellowship with God and the brethren. This is His Table (Psa. 23:5). This is also a type of the Lord’s Supper and
the spiritual realities to which it points.
It is the prosperity
offering. There are three categories:
1. Thank Offering - 30 fold
2. Vow Offering -60-fold
3. Freewill Offering -100-fold
The Freewill Offering
---THE THIRD DAY OFFERING --- 100-fold blessing. This is the offering by which this Church
Fellowship gives and receives our Kingdom provision. Ministers of the Gospel who are still
operating in the FIRST DAY or SECOND DAY Revelation of giving and receiving often make a statement to me asking a
question, “You didn’t take an offering!”.
My reply is always the same, “The Lord has instructed us to have the
offering ready when the minister arrives.”
The people in our church give a “Freewill Offering”. This Offering was and is a spontaneous
expression of praise to God in appreciation of what He has revealed Himself to
be, rather than simply for what he has done or what we want Him to do. In the Vow and Freewill Offerings, the
remainder of the flesh of the sacrifice was burned with fire on THE THIRD DAY.
Lev. 7:17: “But the remainder of the flesh of the
sacrifice on the third day shall be burned with fire.”
For those who press
on toward the mark of the high calling, it will cost us all of the fat of our
flesh.
In our Church, the
Lord has graced us to have no debt. When
the Lord calls us to do a Kingdom work, He always pays for it. Money does not cause me stress, nor do I
stress in pursuit of money. This my
friends is the Peace of God that passes all understanding. Many think I am wealthy because I do not ever
stress out over finances. Yes, I am rich
in Faith that the Lord will provide. He
has always provided. I have no reason to
believe that he won’t continue providing.
I have not always walked in this peace of mind. I don’t want to ever walk out of it. Ministers of the Gospel should not be beggars
nor teach others to be beggars.
Ministers of the gospel should not manipulate or use their office and/or
gifts to intimidate people to give.
Many ministers who have been raised in the First and Second
Day provision have an entitlement mentality toward people. No!! I
say to you, your provision is not from the hand of people, but from the hand of
the Lord. He will direct those whom He
chooses to support His Kingdom work. We
will never have to pull on anyone for Kingdom provision. Those Ministers who bring their own offering
cans have received their reward. They
are motivated by their own greed and insecurity.
This is the Faith of
the Freewill Offering the Lord is calling the corporate church in to in the
Latter Days.
“The primary
characteristic of the latter house of greater glory will be an unshakeable
peace in the time of global shaking.
Unshakeable peace and unbreakable relationships are a product of
unbroken covenant, an undivided heart.
This revelatory understanding of the end-time was given to Moses in the
Peace offering and to the prophet Haggai.
As a messenger of the Lord, both Moses and Haggai were able to peer into
a window in the Spirit straight into the realm of the eternal Spirit. In this vision, Haggai was able to see the
day and time when God would create a people for His name and pleasure---a
glorious Church who would show forth the stability, prosperity and permanence
of the Lord’s unwavering Kingdom.”
Romans 5:1 “Therefore being justified by faith, we have
peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.”
The Thank
Offering—FIRST DAY OFFERING---30-fold blessing. This offering is in acknowledgement of special blessings
received from the Lord. (Lev. 7: 12-15; Ps. 107). This was “for Praise.” The Israelite offered unleavened cakes mingled
with oil, unleavened wafers anointed with oil, cakes of fine flour mingled with
oil (fried); in addition, he offered LEAVENED BREAD. The flesh of the sacrifice was to be eaten
the same (FIRST) day it was offered.
Otherwise it was declared to be an abomination to God and the offender
was excommunicated.
The Vow
Offering---SECOND DAY OFFERING –60 fold blessing. This offering
was in fulfillment of a promise or pledge (vow) made to God for the
granting of a special request in prayer. (Lev. 7: 16-21) It had to be eaten the FIRST or SECOND
day. If the payment of a vow is delayed
too long, it is equivalent to breaking it (a mater of compulsion rather than a
voluntary act). The offerer and the
offering had to be clean. (7: 19-21)
The primary purpose
of the Peace Offering is that it afforded opportunity for the worshipping
Israelite to enjoy communion with God and with His redeemed people. It celebrated peace with God established upon
the efficacy of the atoning BLOOD and like the burnt offering, this offering
was for ACCEPTANCE of the offerer. (Lev. 19:5; 22: 18-20, 29). This is the only offering where the offerer
himself partakes of his own offering.
This shows that he is not only brought into peace with God, but that he
has also been made a partaker of the peace of God.
The blood of the
Peace Offering met the disruption of fellowship caused by sin. (11 Cor. 5:
17-21) “For He has made Him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be
made the righteousness of God in Him. (6:1) “We then, as workers together with
Him, beseech you also that you receive not the grace of God in vain.”
The ritual of the
offerer and the priest is almost identical to the Meal Offering. The allotted portions were first to the
Lord, then the Priest and to the Offerer.
An offering of the herd could be a bull, a lamb or a goat. It could be either male or female. In God’s redemptive plan, there is acceptance
and peace for all without regard for gender.
JEHOVAH – This was
called the “food of the fire offerings” because it fed the altar fire and with
other sweet savor offerings it constituted the “Bread of God.” God’s portion consisted of the suet, kidneys,
caul, and the fat tail of the sacrifice.
God deserves and desires the richest and best for Himself. The “food” shows the Father’s satisfaction
and appreciation of Jesus our Peace Offering, and the believer’s praise and
thanksgiving. The choice fat speaks of
the excellence and reserve energy of the animal. This is the power and energy of the Holy
Spirit to accomplish the will of God.
Jesus Christ has been
given all executive authority in Heaven and in earth. The Lord will one day remove the throne and
strength of heathen nations (Hag. 2: 20-22)
The wisdom and strength of men will be swallowed up in the Day of the
Lord.
The officiating
Priest received the animal’s right shoulder and the bread cakes, one of each
kind (7: 32-33). This constituted a
Heave Offering. Aaron and his son’s
share was knows as a wave offering, the breast of the animal.
God has ordained this
His servants be supported from the offerings of God’s people (Ex. 29:38; 1 Cor.
9: 13-14). But in order that neither
priest nor people should imagine that these were a gift from his fellow-man,
they were first given to God by the offerer.
The Heave offering was to acknowledge the dependence of the priest upon
God and to express his thanksgiving for the provision received. It was heaved up to the extent of the
offerers' reach before he handed it to the priest. The right shoulder prefigured Jesus’
supporting strength for priestly service and was an acknowledgement of the
offerer of the Government of God (7:14).
Kelly Varner in his
book, The Priesthood is Changing, has
poetic description of the priest ministering at the altar.
Ps. 118:27: “God is the Lord, which has shown us light;
bind the sacrifice with cords, even unto the horns of the altar.”
“Have you fallen
through the grate yet? It’s supper time,
time for the Feast of tabernacles, the main meal. Don’t sip, sup (Rev. 3:20). Don’t pick at your plate. The menu includes barbecued you. You can come like a stuck pig or a little lamb,
but you must come. God can tie you down
or you can just lie quietly; He has two
ways to cook a priest; the “tie” method or the “lie” method. The fire of God, the word of God, must
ignite the sacrifice. When you have been
completely consumed, you will fall through the grate. The last thing to drop through is your head.
There is a people in
the earth who are allowing the Lord to completely engulf every part of their
lives. These are becoming a whole burnt
offering unto the Lord, a kingdom of priests (Ex. 19: 1-6) who are not afraid
of the furnace of affliction. These are
being wholly devoured by the Word of the Lord and are falling through the
grate. These priests are submitting to
His reducing them and everything that concerns them to ashes. But He will give us beauty for ashes!”
This applies to the
burnt offering, but since I ran across it, it is applicable to those who are
called and chosen. The Peace Offering is
an appendage to the Burnt offering.
The Officiating
priest received the shoulder. Aaron and
his sons received the Breast portion (7: 30-76). This wave offering of the breast was waved to
and fro before the Lord. This is the
seat of the affections. This was waved
to the four corners of the earth and signifies that God had condescended to
hold fellowship with all men. The
offering was placed upon the hands of the offerer. This was done at the consecration of the
priest, the firstling sheaf on the second day of the Passover, the two lambs at
the Feast of Pentecost, the lamb and oil as a trespass offering for the
purification of the leper, the thank offering of the Nazarite, and the jealousy
offering.
The Drink offering,
like the meal offering was an appendage to the burnt Offering. It always accompanied the Meal Offering. It consisted of a libation of wine (Lev.
23:13). The Drink Offering typically
signifies Jesus’ utter outpouring of Himself (His life---His blood) in joyful
surrender to the accomplishment of the will of God. It also speaks of the sacrifice of joy in
praise and worship and the outpoured life of the believer.
Phil 2:17: “Yes, and I be offered upon the sacrifice
and service of your faith, I joy and rejoice with you all.”
II Tim. 4:6: “For I am now ready
to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought a good fight. I have finished my course. I have kept the faith.
1 Tim. 4:6: “If you put the brethren in remembrance of these
things you shall be a good minister of
Jesus Christ, nourished up in the words of faith and of good doctrine, whereto
you have attained”
The Lord is bringing
His people into the unity of unshakeable peace---the whole heart given to God
in pure worship. The latter house of
greater glory is a holy nation of sanctified priests with an undivided affection
for God.
Jesus Christ through
his death, burial, resurrection and ascension is the surety, guarantee, and
assurance that God will bring His purposes and our destiny to completion and
conclusion. He will seal his new
creation three times---in the heart, hand and head---and build Himself a house,
the place of unshakeable peace!
Eph. 2:14 NIV “For He Himself is our peace…”
Jesus alone is the
Prince and King of peace, the Alpha and Omega, the Beginning and the Ending
(Jer. 29:11). God is more confident
about His ability to bring His will and purpose to full conclusion in our lives
than we are about our ability to fail.
Is. 26:3: KJV: “You
will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on you…”
UNSHAKEABLE PEACE
BY: John Houston
I will be glorified in My holy temple
My house shall be filled with a sweet holy sound,
Then I shall restore all the years that were stolen,
Establish My life in you…you shall be holy ground.
I will be glorified. This is
just the beginning,
The unveiling of truth, complete and fulfilled.
I will pour out the oil, the new wine will flow freely;
You shall walk in My power, becoming My will.
I will be glorified. You will be
My sweet fragrance,
All the winds of the earth shall then carry abroad
This aroma of holiness to all lands and all nations,
They shall see in My people; truly I am your God.
I will be glorified; in your midst I will prosper,
When the earth groans with fear, you shall be My release
I will prove My great power and will give you this hour,
In the time of great shaking, My unshakeable peace…
