"THE MANIFOLD WISDOM OF GOD"

"THE MANIFOLD WISDOM OF GOD" - I

Preached by:  Carolyn Sissom

“…I should preach among the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ…to the intent that now the manifold wisdom of God might be made known by the church to the principalities and powers in the heavenly places, according to the eternal purpose which He accomplished in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Eph. 3:8, 10-11)

The eternal purpose of the enemy is to oppose the establishment of God’s Kingdom on the earth.  The enemy that sets itself against the government of God is the strong man, the political spirit who is of the spirit of anti-christ.

Bill Wilson of Word of Life ministry stated the following this past week:

“There could very well be a perfect storm brewing for the United States.  There are three components of the storm:

 1.      The Middle East situation with Israel, Iran, Afghanistan, Pakistan and Iraq.2.      The gulf oil spill, which some believe could be more disastrous than the flood of Noah’s time.

3.      The worsening economic climate that could be exacerbated by the fall out from the oil spill.

…We are a nation that appears to be under judgment for the wickedness that we have tolerated and it is time to be true citizens and do something about it.  Consider that DEBKAfile is reported that the United States has brought a third carrier into the Persian Gulf and the US now has some 10,000 combat personnel.  The war in Afghanistan has seen increasing casualties during June.  According to former National Security Council Middle East affairs senior director Flynt Leveret, the Administration’s policies there are setting the state for a full scale civil war, which favors al Qaeda.  Turkey according to DEBKAfile, it is moving toward establishing a new Middle East bloc by joining forces in the region that are dedicated to Israel’s destruction.” (End of quote from Bill Wilson, www.dailyjot.com)

With Russia in this mix, we are close to the fulfillment of Ezekiel 38 and the Gog-Magog war.  This is not news to any Bible student.

“The Second Continental Congress called for a day of public humiliation, fasting, and prayer throughout the Colonies on Thursday, July 20, 1775.  From the time of the Pilgrims, colonial governors and legislatures issued hundreds of proclamations, calling upon Americans to repent, fast and pray.  Now the colonies were at war.  Fellow-Patriot James Warren wrote Samuel Adams:

Three million of people on their knees at once, supplicating the aid of Heaven, is a striking circumstance, and a very singular one in America.  May the blessings of Heaven follow in answer to our prayers?

Their prayers were heard, when the Declaration of Independence was signed in July 1776.  Samuel Adams exclaimed:  “we have this day restored the Sovereign to Whom all men out to be obedient.  He reigns in heaven and from the rising to the setting of the sun, let His Kingdom come.”  Ours was not a “revolution” like others.  The founders were motivated by faith and righteous principle.  Our Republic, where God is acknowledged as the Supreme Author f our “unalienable rights,” was not just the fruit of brilliant statesmanship or even the shed blood of patriots, but the grace of God.  Our Forefathers were led by Providence.  America was birthed by the agonizing prayers of men and women who longed for a land where a God-fearing people could enjoy freedom in their homes, churches, businesses, schools, and private and public associations, where private property and religious liberty would be protected by just laws, where political liberty would allow faith to flourish.

Today, all is in jeopardy.  We must pray as never before.” (End of quote)

However, where is Godly leadership?   It is the people of God perfected in love, who will hold up a standard against the flood of fear sweeping the world, for “perfect love casts out all fear”.  (1 John 4:18)

We are crossing over an epic threshold here in the last days before Christ returns.  As the government of the Kingdom of God ushered in the manifestation of the glory in Christ Jesus and after Pentecost, so will God’s divine order bring another wave of glory that “all the earth shall be filled with the glory of the Lord” (Num. 14:21).

We are at a turning point in the church.  Last week Sandra and I ministered at Turning Point Ministry in Fairfield, TX.  This is prophetic of the present times in the Kingdom of God.  Regardless of the present tribulation in the whole earth, God has already declared, “The glory of this latter temple shall be greater than the former… (Hag. 2:9). It has already been foretold that “the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord, as the waters cover the sea (Hab. 2:14).  Though we know the resolution, we must still endure the conflict.  Though we know who the victors are, there is still a battle to be waged.

Faisal Malick says in his book, The Political Spirit, “I believe the day is coming when the governments of the world will come to the church In their respective nations and ask for help. (This is what the Founders of this nation did).    God will cause the table to suddenly turn in the darkest hour---the dawn will suddenly break forth.  As the prophet said, “…Your light shall dawn in the darkness, and your darkness shall be as the noonday”. (Isa. 58:10)  Whatever it takes in God’s perfect timing, the horizon will align at just the right moment and His light will illuminate the day.  As the moon moves across the sky, God is preparing His people.  While it is still night, He is teaching and training them and raising them up to be people of stature, ready to give a word of wisdom to the weary.”

“With my soul I have desired You in the night; yes by my spirit within me I will seek You early; for when Your judgments are in the earth, the inhabitants of the world will learn righteousness.”  (Isaiah 26:9)

God is giving His people wisdom and supernatural insight into the spirit realm.  He would not have you ignorant of the nature and identify of your enemy.

We already know the end of the story, God’s Word will prevail, and His government will be established.  Through the prophet Isaiah, God promised, “My word…that goes forth from My mouth…shall not return to Me void, but it shall accomplish what I please, and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.” (Isa. 55:11)  Isaiah also declared, “Of the increase of His government and peace there will be no end…” (Isa. 9:7).

Ephesians 3: 10-11 states that the Church is to make God’s manifold  wisdom known to powers and principalities; To the intent that now the manifold wisdom of God might be made known by the church to the principalities and powers in the heavenly places, according to the eternal purpose which he accomplished in Christ Jesus our Lord.

It is God’s eternal purpose for the Church, which he set the groundwork for through christ.  It is a lofty mandate, but as Jesus said, “…with God all things are possible” (Matt. 19:26; Mark 10:27; Lk. 18:27).

After Jesus went to be with the Father and sent the Holy Spirit to be with the Church, His disciples ministered with a new boldness and authority.  Peter, James, John and eventually Paul, operated with an apostolic anointing that brought the Glory of God to bear.  The spread the Good News of the gospel, announced that the Kingdom of God was at hand, and organized the new Body of believers into what would become the early Church.  In doing so, the political spirit was provoked.  It continued to work as the early church grew and increased in wisdom, knowledge, and statute.  It tried to silence the apostles and quench the move of the Spirit, but it did not succeed.

How did the first apostles gain victory over the political spirit and how will the church gain victory over the same spirit still opposing Christ today?   Remember, as we are fighting wickedness in heavenly places, we must also keep in mind that “the god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ…” (2 Cor. 4:4 NIV)  The church must fight an enemy that cannot be seen while at the same time the world is blinded to the one thing that can overcome it: namely the Wisdom of God through the Lord Jesus Christ and His Holy Spirit.

God has positioned the church to reveal God’s wisdom and dismantle the enemy’s strongholds once and for all.

In Proverbs 21:22, “a wise man scales the city of the mighty; and brings down the trusted stronghold.”  To bring down the enemy’s stronghold, you have to use wisdom.  Listen to this illustration:

Ecclesiastes 9:14-15: “there was a little city with a few men in it; and a great king came against it, besieged it, and built great snares around it.  Now there was found in it a poor wise man, and he by his wisdom delivered the city…”

Solomon goes on to explain that “wisdom is better than strength…wisdom is better than weapons of war” (Ec. 9: 16, 128).   In between these two statements, however, he warns that too often wisdom is despised or goes unheard.  Words of the wise, spoken quietly, should be heard rather than the shout of a ruler of fools” (Ec. 9:17).  Eph 4:14: “We should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting.”

This is the difference between the wisdom of the world and the wisdom of heaven.  Worldly wisdom and cunning will never bring victory against the political spirit---you will never beat the enemy at his own game.

The only force that can outmaneuver the political spirit is the wisdom of God. Proverbs 21:30 plainly states, “There is no wisdom, no insight, no plan that can succeed against the Lord.”(NIV)  There are no schemes, plans, plots, or demonic strategies that can succeed against God’s wisdom---no human, earthly, or demonic wisdom or counsel will bring success.  The only way to defeat the political spirit is to access and harness divine wisdom.

There are three different types of wisdom at work in the world.  First thers is earthly wisdom---or human wisdom.  Second there is demonic or satinic wisdom.  Third, there is the wisdom of God.  It is the wisdom of God that brings victory.

This evening, I will continue preaching on the three different kinds of Wisdom.

The manifold wisdom of God is to be made known by the church to the principalities and powers in heavenly places.  What is manifold wisdom?
