JUBILEE/THE ACCEPTABLE YEAR OF THE LORD

 JUBILEE

The Acceptable Year of the Lord

Sunday Evening Service

May 6, 2012, The Year of Our Lord

Pastor Carolyn Sissom

Luke 4:19-21:  “”To preach the Acceptable year of the Lord…This day is this scripture is fulfilled in your ears.”

Leviticus 25: 1-55:

On the Day of Jubilee, Liberty was proclaimed throughout the land to all the inhabitants as men were set free and prison doors were opened.  Holiness marked this year which was also a Sabbath year for the land.  No sowing or reaping was to be done.  The land was to rest.

Restoration of every man to his own possession brought great joy.  Release of all slaves also produced much celebration.

The Jubilee first of all is prophetic of the Lord Jesus, who came to deliver the beggar, brokenhearted, bound, blind, and bruised (Isa. 61:1-3 and Lk. 4: 17-19) and to proclaim the acceptable year (Jubilee) of the Lord, which he proclaimed to be fulfilled at the beginning of His earthly ministry.

Isaiah 61:3:  The spirit of the Lord God is upon me; because the Lord has anointed me to preach good tiding to the meek; he has sent me to bind up the broken-hearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound; to proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn; To appoint to them that mourn in Zion, to give them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the Lord that He might be glorified.”

In the beginning of Jesus’ public ministry, He came to Nazareth.  He went into the synagogue on the Sabbath day, and stood up to read.  There was delivered to Him the book of the prophet Isaiah.  He read, “The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, because He has anointed Me to preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised; to preach the acceptable year of the Lord.”

Jesus closed the book, gave it back to the minister, and sat down.  The eyes of all them that were in the synagogue were fastened on Him.  He began to say to them, “this day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears.”  The word is “scripture is fulfilled”.

This is the first time I have connected the scriptures of Isaiah 61 with the Jubilee commanded by God in Leviticus 25.  Jesus proclaimed the “Jubilee”, The Acceptable Year of the Lord ”, Liberty, Prosperity, Healing, Recovery of sight to the blind, and deliverance of the captives.  The bottom line is “Jubilee” is fulfilled in Christ Jesus.  I am sure all of you “got this” revelation a long time ago, but I was still caught up in the 50-year literal cycle.  Fifty is the number of “Grace”.

This year is also called the Year of My Redeemed.  (Isa. 63: 1-4)  Who is this that comes from Edom, with dyed garments from Bozrah?  This that is glorious in His apparel, travelling in the greatness of His strength?  I that speak in righteousness, mighty to save.  Why are you red in Your apparel and Your garments like him that treads in the wine fat?  I have trodden the winepress alone; and of the people there was none with Me; for I will tread them in My anger, and trample them in My fury; and their blood shall be sprinkled upon My garments, and I will stain all My raiment.  For the day of vengeance is in My heart, and the year of My redeemed is come.”

In Ezekiel 46:17, Jubilee is called the Year of Liberty:  “If he (the prince) give a gift of his inheritance to one of his servants, then it shall be his to the year of liberty; after it shall return to the prince; but his inheritance shall be his sons’ for them.”

The gift of his inheritance is for the Sons of God.

Ultimately the Year of Jubilee points to man being delivered from the curse and thus entering New Jerusalem and the restoration of dominion of the earth. (Acts 3:19-21:  I will show wonders in heaven above, and signs in the earth beneath; blood, and fire, and vapor of smoke; the sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and notable day of the Lord come; and it shall come to pass that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved.”

Did anyone see the super moon last night?  I saw images on the internet behind Christ The Redeemer statue in Rio.  It was definitely a “sign in the sky”.  Some say the moon appeared blood red.

“The Jubilee trumpet was blown on the 10th day of the 7th month, the same day that the High Priest walked through the veil.  There will be no release from corruption and death for humanity and creation until a body of overcoming saints follows Jesus, our High Priest,  into the Holy of Holies.  Then, the Lord will roar out of Zion through a High Priestly ministry to minister deliverance and liberty to the earth. (Rom 6: 19-20; Rom 8: 1-25).”

In the Jubilee, there is rest, reversal, release, remission, refreshing and reunion.  There is a return to parents: (Lev. 25:10) “You shall hallow the fiftieth year, and proclaim liberty through out all the land to all the inhabitants thereof; it shall be a jubilee to you; and you shall return every man to his possession, and you shall return every man to his family.

There are pillows of rest: (Lev. 25:11) “A jubilee shall that fiftieth year be to you; you shall not sow, neither reap that which grows of itself in it, nor gather the grapes in it of your vine undressed.”

It is a time of peace: (Lev. 25:14) “And if you sell anything to your neighbor, or buy anything of your neighbor’s hand, you shall not oppress one another.”

There is divine protection: (Lev. 25:19) “And the land shall yield her fruit, and you shall eat your fill, and dwell therein in safety.”

It is a time of plenty:  (Lev. 25:21) “Then I will command my blessing upon you in the sixth year, and it shall bring forth fruit for three years.”

In the 7000 years since Adam, there are 120 Jubilee years. (11 Chronicles 5:12; Acts 1:15)

I experienced a personal Jubilee in 1990 (it was a very good year).  That was the year after my 7 years in the Baptism of Fire ended in 1989.  It is quite a study to try to figure out all the years of Jubilee since the Jubilee was commissioned by the Lord in Leviticus.  The Catholic Church declared a Jubilee in 2000, but the Pope can declare a Jubilee at will, so it was not 50 years from the Catholic’s Church last proclaimed Jubilee in 1983.    The first proclaimed Jubilee by the Catholic Church was in 1300.

The Jewish year of Jubilee is no longer observed.  According to their interpretation of Lev. 25:2, “When you come into the land which I give you”, it is believed to mean all twelve tribes have to be in the land in order to observe Jubilee.

The Lord has His own Jubilee calendar.  When he proclaimed in the Synagogue of Nazareth, “It is the acceptable Year of the Lord”, and the scripture was fulfilled.  That explains why the Jews no longer observe Jubilee for the same reason the Temple worship was abolished.   The Temple of God was also fulfilled In Jesus.  Now the Temple of God is within the saints.  Thus, the Christians who will follow their High Priest into the Holy of Holies will carry within the church, The Acceptable Year of the Lord, the Jubilee of Lev. 25 and fulfilled by Jesus as stated in Luke 4: 17-21.

If we are in His will, loving and serving Him, we will not miss our year of Jubilee; the Acceptable Year of the Lord; The Year of My Redeemed; The Year of Liberty; Release, Holiness, Restoration, Peace, Prosperity, Protection, and Rest.

You may have noticed that I have been proclaiming on all of my postings, that we are in The Year of Our Lord.

As a Post Script, Jesus would have been 33 years of age when he proclaimed the Year of Jubilee which was the same year as He began His earthly ministry.  Because of my personal experience with a personal Jubilee in 1990, I know there is a literal manifestation of “Jubilee”.  The 50-year Leviticus pattern has been lost through time.  However, Jesus was “on time”.  The fulfillment of the acceptable year of the Lord was at the beginning of His public ministry.

Scripture from K.J.V.; Comments and conclusions are my own by revelation while I was preaching this at a Sunday evening Service.  Partial Text outline from Principles of Present Truth of Leviticus by:  Kelly Varner

The Jubilee years were connected with the Day of Atonement.  Every 7th year was a Sabbath, and every 50th year was a Jubilee.  After 7 Sabbaths of years (7 x 7 = 49), there was a Jubilee year.  The Hebrew word is “YOBEL” (#3104) and means “the blast of a horn (from its continuous sound); this was the signal of the two silver trumpets of the introduction of the festival.  “Jubilee, ram’s horn, trumpet” from #2986 means to flow or to bring with pomp.  Similar words are “watercourse, stream, produce, river, outgrowth; also a cry of joy, joyful shout, trumpet-signal, alarm.”
