THE FOURTH BLOOD MOON

THE FOURTH BLOOD MOON

Sunday, September 27, 2015, the Year of Our Lord

Pastor Carolyn Sissom

The national and international events of the past week have been so phenomenal that even the meanest skeptic is surely taking notice that the God of Heaven and Earth is shaking everything that can be shaken.  I believe we are living in the midst of great events, great changes, and a great overturning.   We can rest in peace that we have received a Kingdom that cannot be shaken---at least in those areas of our life where Jesus Christ is Lord.

To start our new week, we have the fourth blood moon eclipse.  As those of us know who watch the signs in the sky, and the signs of the times, these eclipses have been happening at six month intervals for the past 18 months.  These have consistently fallen on Feast of Passover and Feast of Tabernacles.

Tonight is the night of the super moon eclipse and will not occur again until 2033.

I have spent the week glued to the television watching the movement and words of the Pope.  I watched as the Chinese General Secretary of the Communist Party arrived at the White House.  I watched as Speaker of the House John Boehner resigned, not just as speaker, but from the House of Representatives.  The Republican cartel of the Republican Party is shaking.  The Democratic cartel under Hillary Clinton is shaking.  Russia, Iran, and Syria have joined an alliance in the Middle East bringing together the Gog/Magog nations with the Psalm 83 nations.  Many kings of the earth are gathered at the United Nations.  The refugees continue to stream out of the Middle East by the millions.

This past week we learned that a green beret, Charles Martland was being kicked out of the U.S. Army for defending a 12 year old child from being raped by an Iraq man.  We know that sex-trafficking abounds over the U.S. border.

Joel 3:3: “They have cast lots for My people; and have given a boy for a harlot, and sold a girl for wine, that they might drink… (7) Behold, I will raise them out of the place where you have sold them, and will return your recompense upon your own head…”

For the past 18 months, we have surely had a front row seat as we have watched prophecies unfold before our eyes.

Do I think the “tetrad” of blood moons is a sign from Heaven?  Yes!  The Blood Moon tonight will appear in the eastern sky.  The wise men saw Jesus’ star in the east.  When Jesus speaks of his second coming, he says that His appearing will be as lightning coming out of the east, and shines even to the west. (Mt. 24:27).

Do I believe this is the day of the Second Coming? No! There is unfulfilled prophecy which must come to pass before He returns.  I do believe it is a time of visitation.

Matthew 25:1-4: “Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened to ten virgins, which took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom.  Five of them were wise, and five were foolish.  The foolish took their lamps, and took no oil with them; but the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps.  While the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept.  The midnight cry---‘Behold, the bridegroom comes; go out to meet him’.  Then all those virgins arose, and trimmed their lamps.  The foolish said to the wise, give us your oil; for our lamps have gone out.  The wise answered, saying, ‘Not so; less there not be enough for us and you.  Go to them that sell, and buy for yourself.’  While they went to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage; and the door was shut.  Afterward the other virgins said, Lord, Lord, open to us.  He answered, ‘verily I say to you.  I do not know you.’  Watch for you do not know the day or the hour wherein the Son of Man comes.”

These scriptures apply to the Second Coming, but they also apply to the Day of Visitation.

Matthew 24 describes the second coming.

Matthew 24: 27-30: “As the lightning comes out of the east and shine even to the west; so also shall be the coming of the Son of man.  Where-so-ever the carcase is there the eagles will be gathered together.  Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven and the powers of the heaven shall be shaken; then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven; and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn.  They shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.”

The falling of the stars to the earth metaphorically means the collapse of established authority. (Mark 13:25) ‘And the stars of heaven shall fall, and the powers that are in heaven shall be shaken.”   A political upheaval is metaphorically implied.

“Carcase” (ptoma) means: (1) a fall, downfall, failure, defeat, calamity, error, lapse into sin. (2) Corpse.  The spelling is different from carcass which means the dead body of an animal.

Joel 2:32: “The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and terrible day of the Lord come.”

This scripture was quoted by Peter on the day of Pentecost after the rushing mighty wind of the Holy Spirit filled the house where they were sitting.  There appeared to them cloven tongues like fire and it sat upon each one of them.

Pentecost was a day of great visitation of the Holy Spirit dwelling in mankind as they are born again and receive the Lord Jesus Christ.

The moon turning to Blood is also a sign of the opening of the sixth seal of the Book of Revelation.  Rev. 6:12: “Lo, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became as blood.  The stars of heaven fell to the earth, even as a fig tree casts her untimely figs, when she is shaken by a mighty wind.  The heaven departed as a scroll when it is rolled together; and every mountain and island were moved out of their place.  The kings of the earth, the great men, the rich men, the chief captains, the mighty men, every bondman, and every free man hid themselves in the dens and in the rocks of the mountains.”

As Christ takes the scroll of destiny and proceeds to break one seal after another, the unveiling properly begins.  His action in Heaven determines events on earth.

A great earthquake is a recurrent sign of divine visitation in the bible (Ex. 19:18; Zech. 14:4; Mt. 27:51).  For the darkening of the heavenly bodies on the day of the Lord, Isa. 12:10; Ez. 32:7; Jl. 2:10; 3:15.

Revelation speaks of four times the Sun will be darkened:

  1. During the 6th seal.
  2. During the 4th trumpet (8:12).
  3. During the 5th trumpet (9:2).
  4. During the 5th vial. (16:10)

On that day, (not today) in the natural, I believe the entire universe will be shaken.  Catastrophic movement occurs world-wide as a great earthquake dislocates mountain ranges.  The earth is racked with convulsions.  The seas don’t know where they belong.  The islands, which are mountain tops, disappear.  This awesome earthquake merely foreshadows a far greater one ahead (Rev. 16:18).

Changes occur in the skies as well; the sun is darkened, the moon turns blood-red and the sky recedes.  All these events are described in Old Testament prophecies (more than 60 of them) as signs that herald the coming Day of the Lord.

A complete convulsion of heaven and earth is implied; the use of such language to describe political upheaval is also well established in biblical prophecy.  The picture of chaos-come-again in Jeremiah 4: 23-26, describes the desolation caused by foreign invaders.

John elaborates the picture by enumerating the successive ranks of men, from kings to every slave and every free man, who seek refuge on the day of wrath.  They called to the mountains and the rocks, fall on us.

The kings of the earth will be living in a state of daring defiance and skeptic indifference; leaving belief in the King of Kings to the weak and gullible.  The kings of the earth will be making merry, sending gifts one to another, with a haughty confidence in the permanence of their thrones and crowns.

This wrath is the retribution which must operate in a moral universe such as God’s universe is.  It is a response of His holiness to persistent and impenitent wickedness.  It is indeed His strange work (Isa. 28:21), His strange act, to which He girds Himself slowly and reluctantly, in contrast to His proper and congenial work of mercy.

Where His mercy is decisively repudiated, men are left to the consequences of their freely chosen course.  If here the wrath of God is also the wrath of the Lamb, it is because that wrath is not detached from the cross; indeed, it is best understood in the light of the cross.

Christians are not the children of wrath.  We are children of God.  “Behold” says the beloved disciple, “How great is the love the Father has lavished on us---that we should be called children of God!”

Joel 3:16: “The Lord shall roar out of Zion, and utter His voice from Jerusalem.  The heavens and the earth shall shake; but the Lord will be the hope of His people, and the strength of the children of Israel.”

Justice and judgment are the habitation of his throne.  Mercy and truth go before his face.

It is my persuasion that the opening of the sixth seal does not describe the day of judgment or the day of the wrath of the Lamb, but this seal is a description of the events immediately preceding it.

A daring defiant world awakes to falling political powers, heaving earthquakes, a blackened sun, and the blood red moon.  Those who lived for ambition, power, fame, and gold, will call upon rock and mountain cave to screen and cover them from the wrath of the Lamb.

The same Lamb will be the dispenser of love and blessing to His own people.

“Bold shall I stand on that Great Day;

For who aught to my charge shall lay,

When by your blood absolved I am

From sin and fear, from guilt and shame.” (J.R.M.)

The “still small voice” of redeeming love is now heard preceding “the earthquake, the wind, and the fire”.

I do not know, nor can I say what the days before us hold.  I know the days of the past seven years have grown darker and darker in the world.  I have watched as the Lord continues to give warning after warning.  Yes, I believe the “tetrad” of blood moons is definitely a sign in the heavens.

Heaven is the habitation of God in purity and holiness.  Those who are called perfect are the sincere, as opposed to the hypocritical.  The true Christian midst all his imperfections has germs of immortal excellence in his nature.

In our faith, we have no fear of what tomorrow will bring, for we shall be with Jesus for His habitation is in us.  Behold the Kingdom of God is within you.”  If Heaven is the habitation of God in purity and holiness, then His habitation is in us.
