MOTHER'S DAY - THE SEED OF THE WOMAN
MOTHER’S DAY
The Seed of the Woman
May 14, 2017, the Year of Our Lord
Pastor Carolyn Sissom
Today we celebrate our mothers, the family, and the covenant of the family ordained by God. Womanhood and the family continue to be under attack by the spirit of antichrist. The woman is the birth canal of mankind, the mother of all the living. Every living person was born of a woman.
“Four things in any land must dwell,
If it endures and prospers well;
One is manhood true and good;
One is noble womanhood;
One is child life, clean and bright;
And one an altar kept alight” (Author unknown)
Recently it came back to my memory that when we were in Israel and I was standing at the Western Wall, the Lord spoke to me and said, “Israel is the hearth of God.” One of the definitions for hearth is “home; fireside; the joys of family and hearth.” That was a profound word of which I am not sure that I have the full understanding.
“Anyone can build an altar; it requires God to provide the flame. Anybody can build a house, we need the Lord for the creation of a home,” (John Henry Jowett)
I identified the Word at that time with Isa. 31:9: “…says the Lord, whose fire is in Zion, and his furnace in Jerusalem.”
Yet a hearth is more than a fire and furnace. It is often where the family gathered, prepared their meals and prayed. It is indeed in the home (hearth) that the foundations of a family are laid.
Lord, this humble house we keep,
Sweet with play and calm with sleep.
Help us so that we may give
Beauty to the lives we live.
Let your love and let your grace,
Shine upon our dwelling place. (Edgar A. Guest).
Children can have no better inheritance than believing parents that though we made mistakes, there was always love and the Lord was present in our prayers and in our conversations. “The beauty of a house is harmony. The security of a house is loyalty. The joy of a house is love. The plenty of a house is in children.” (Frank Crane).
The Lord created the family before he created the church.
In the beginning,
Genesis 1:27: God created man in His own image, in the image of God created He him; male and female created he them.
Mark 2:6-8: From the beginning of the creation God made them male and female…the two shall be one flesh; so they are no more two, but one flesh. What God has joined together, let not man put asunder.
This scripture is often used to seal the covenant of marriage and wisely so. However, this covenant goes deeper than the marriage of one man and one woman. This covenant by Divine proclamation seals God’s model of marriage and the foundation of the family. It can only be between a male and female. What God has joined together, let not man put asunder.
God’s word has sealed the union of male and female and cannot be changed unless He says it is changed. Not only is the family sealed by His Word, and His Name; but the union of male and female is sealed in His image.
God is neither male, nor female for God is a Spirit (Jn. 4: 23-24). A man and woman rightly related reveal the IMAGE of God, for God is love. (1 Jn. 4:8).
This is the foundation of covenant love.
The male and the female in union are partakers of the image of God. The resultant partnership, equality and voluntary subordination are a revelation of God’s glory as the union comes into union with the Lord.
Many of the words in the Kingdom vocabulary are male and female:
Male: Spirit, Man, Bridegroom, Temple, Son, King, Priest.
Female: Soul, Woman, Bride, City.
The woman was a special act of creation. God “made” the Woman. He “formed” man out of the dust of the ground. Adam and Even, though existing in two bodies, were one flesh. The woman was originally in the man. The woman was taken from the side of man. In the beginning, the spirit and the soul were one in one flesh. Adam and Eve were one dwelling together as a complement to one another, without hostility, division, inequality, or duplicity. Spirit is being and soul is expression. The spirit was the source of the soul’s expression, and the soul expressed perfectly the nature of the spirit.
Adam and Eve were a real man and a real woman in union with their Creator.
As Christians today, we desire that place in Christ which is Eden restored, the end of our faith, the salvation of our souls; that our souls are consumed by the Holy Spirit.
As Adam and Eve were set together over all the earth, and over every living thing that moved upon the earth, so the spirit and the soul were set together over the “earth” in which they dwelt---the body realm. They were unified in their earth bodies. In Eden (and in Christ) the man did not rule over the woman, but with her. The Spirit was Lord over the body, and the soul was one with the Spirit. They were the king and queen reigning together in joint dominion over the “earth” of the flesh in which they tabernacled.
The curse of the serpent is Gen 3:15: I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your seed and her seed; it (He) shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise his heel.
The curse of the woman was broken at the Cross. Gal. 3:13: Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us… Every curse is broken as we appropriate by faith, the Holy Spirit, and the Blood.
However, no where does it say the curse spoken on the serpent has ever been broken. It cannot be broken because the serpent cannot receive the Holy Spirit, Faith in Christ and the Blood of Jesus.
Womanhood and motherhood continue to be under attack by the serpent because her seed has the authority to bruise his head.
Jesus Christ the seed of the woman bruised the serpent’s head on the Cross. In so doing, the Lord was bruised.
Isa. 53: 10-11: Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise him; he has put him to grief; when you shall make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the LORD shall prosper in his hand. He shall see of the travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied; by his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many; for he shall bear their iniquities.
The complete fulfillment of the seed of the woman shall bruise the serpent’s heel and will be fulfilled through the overcoming Church. Just as Jesus was born of a woman, so shall the Church, (a woman=God-seed) travail in birth and deliver a man-child company which will “rule all nations with a rod of iron.” (Rev. 12)
Like our LORD, this ruler-ship company will be bruised. “…a great red dragon, having seven heads and ten horns, and seven crowns upon his heads; his tail drew the third part of the stars of heaven, and cast them to the earth. The dragon stood before the woman who was ready to deliver to devour her child as soon as it was born…”
No man can govern until he is governed by the Lord. Like our LORD, the seed of the woman (the Church=our children) will be bruised before we will be given the “rod of iron” and Shepherd’s staff that will govern the nations.
Men and Women of God many of you have been bruised; and through that bruising, you have overcome. Through faith, the Holy Spirit and the Blood of Jesus have bruised the head of the serpent. Many of you have watched as your seed grew to maturity in the kosmos and their struggle to overcome the world system and the lusts of their soul.
You are the Seed of God. You are the Woman whose seed will bruise the head of the serpent.
The God-Seed and the Serpent-Seed principle are played out in the Old Testament as two men and two women:
Two men: Abel/Cain; Abraham/Nimrod; Isaac/Ishmael; Samuel/Eli; David/Saul.
Two Women: Sarah/Hagar; Rachel/Leah; Hannah/Peninnah; Ruth/Naomi or Orphah; Esther/Vashti, etc.
The Lord is seeking Godly men and woman who will sow righteousness and love into their families. Make your home a hearth of prayer where Jesus is always at the center. Lord let us be that Church who will bruise the head of the serpent with a rod of iron. Raise us up Oh Lord to give birth to Godly-seed,
It is God’s soul and not ours that will again know the bliss of Eden. The only bride Adam had was the one taken out from within him. The only soul that will ever be adorned as a bride is the soul which is rooted in the Spirit; His soul, nor ours. We are told repeatedly to lose our soul (Mt. 16: 24-25). It is His mind, emotions, will and desires that we crave.
Woman the Lord put righteousness on you and called you the mother of the living. To you he has given the power and authority to bruise the head of the serpent through your seed. The Church is the Woman which includes male and female. She is to bring forth the man-child company which is both male and female.
Rev. 12: 10-17: I heard a loud voice saying in Heaven, now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of His Christ; for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night. They overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives to the death. Rejoice you heavens, and you that dwell in them. Woe to the inhabiters of the earth and of the sea! The devil has come down to you having great wrath, because he knows that he has a short time. When the dragon saw that he was cast to the earth, the persecuted the woman which brought forth the man child. The woman was given two wings of a great eagle, that she might fly into the wilderness, into her place, where she is nourished for a time, and times, and half a time, from the face of the serpent. The serpent cast out of his mouth water as a flood after the woman, that he might cause her to be carried away of the flood. The earth helped the woman, and the earth opened her mouth and swallowed up the flood which the dragon cast out of his mouth. The dragon was angry with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.
