FATHERS – LARGENESS OF HEART
Father’s Day, June 17, 2018
The Year of Our Lord
I want to thank all of the men of our church for your largeness of heart and honor you as Men of God who support your families, your church, your community, the homeless and poor, widows and orphans, missionaries, evangelism, multiple ministries, and hold up my arms. Through your largeness of heart, we take care of the LORD’s business.
The Lord spoke to us on the first Sunday of 2018 that this is the year of the crown.
By the Holy Spirit, we have received five crowns.
- Crown of the year (Psa. 65: 11-13)
- Crystal diadem (Isa. 28:5)
- Crown of Loving Kindness (Ps. 103:4)
- Crown of Oil (Lev. 21:12)
- Royal Crown/Esther – Mother’s Day (Est. 2:17; 6:8)
Today we will honor our fathers with the:
- Crown of Wisdom.
Pro. 4:7-9: Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom; and with all you getting get understanding. Exalt her, and she shall promote you; she shall bring you to honor when you embrace her. She shall be to your head an ornament of grace; a crown of glory shall she deliver to you.
1 Kings 4:29: God gave Solomon wisdom and exceeding great understanding, and largeness of heart like the sand of the seashore.
One unique characteristic of the kingly anointing (those chosen and anointed by the LORD) is largeness of heart. God gave King Solomon not only wisdom and exceedingly great understanding; He also gave him largeness of heart.
What does largeness of heart mean? King Solomon’s largeness of heart has to do with the bigness of heart and soul. It has to do with his large capacity and generosity. Out of the beauty and largeness of our soul, our mouth speaks and our mind creates.
Solomon was described as a person with a large soul. He had largeness of heart. Every thing that he did from the building of the Temple, the palace, the furnishings, the serving of food on the table, to the manner in which his servants and his palace official were attired, evidenced the spirit of excellence, grandeur, and bigness of his heart.
A person who has a “large soul and spirit’ will have a greater capability and large capacity to receive and draw from God.
It is the same spiritually. Those with a large soul and spirit not only have a larger capacity to receive, but they also have the capability to receive things of the spirit in a shorter time! In computer terminology, they can download much more! We should pray for the LORD to enlarge and increase our spiritual capacity to receive and release blessings.
True kings are people with large hearts and big visions. They act with largesse. They are diametrically opposite of those who have a constricted soul and are bound by the spirit of poverty and slave mentality. Such people will always have a nagging fear of insufficiency and lack. God will never commit Himself to, or count on, people who are stingy, greedy, or have constricted souls. These are the naysayers. They will always give the negative report. These will always tell you how something can’t be done; not how it can be done. These are the faultfinders and those who have a critical spirit.
Such people will see only the impossibilities and will always hesitate, or even never venture, to attempt anything of significance or import.
May God raise up more people with the heart of kings.
Ps. 119:32: I will run the course of Your commandments, for You shall enlarge my heart.
The welfare of family, other people, and nations should be the primary concern of any good king. Kings need to have a heart that is filled with love. The love for God and people should govern and temper the application of authority and power. Love helps to provide the balance and curtails abuse of authority.
Pro. 21:1: The king’s heart is in the hand of the LORD, like the rivers of water; He turns it wherever He wishes.
It is the privilege and pleasure of all of us to bless and be a blessing. Those with a generous heart will be given more authority over resources when they are able to bless in the manner befitting their office.
Those who think very highly of themselves with an ego and expectation that others will give to, serve them, and owe them, will stumble over and miss the mark of this high calling. This is not intended as a judgment of ministries, but an exhortation as we seek the Lord to bless the church with a greater measure of this Grace.
Prov. 3:27: Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due, when it is in the power of your hand to do so.
Christ died for our sins and our salvation. He also died to establish His Kingdom on earth. He wants a priestly people who will “reign in life”---a people who are “vessels of mercy”---who will have kingly authority to minister life to others, because of His ministration from the throne of Heaven.
We have many volunteers for the throne---men/women who are looking for opportunities to take over earth’s resources and earth’s governments. But God’s crowns are for those who are meek and humble.
God gives to kings the spirit of wisdom. The word of wisdom is the first gift to be mentioned in the list of spiritual gifts mentioned in 1 Cor. 12.
Wisdom is part of the apostolic gifting. It takes apostolic wisdom to lay strong foundations.
Kings need to know the Word of God.
Ps. 119: 97-100: Oh how I love Your law! It is my meditation all the day. You, through Your commandments, make me wiser than my enemies; for they are ever with me. I have more understanding than all my teachers, for Your testimonies are my meditation. I understand more than the ancients, because I keep Your precepts.
The strength of kings is vital for winning many of the spiritual battles of life, especially the drawn-out battles. We need the spirit of might and power in order to prevail.
Luke 11:21-22: When a strong man, fully armed, guards his own palace, his goods are in peace. But when a stronger than He comes upon him and overcomes him, he takes from him all his armor in which he trusted, and divides his spoils.
Ps. 18:39: You have armed me with strength for the battle. You have subdued under me those who rose up against me.
Most kings have been given the grace and strength to shoulder a heavy load of responsibilities. The preparation they went through – the testing and trials help to make them tough.
Mature and established apostles and prophets will have the spirit and stature of kings. People with the true stature of kings do not speak sheepishly or apologetically; they speak with kingly authority. Their voices ring with authority. Jesus spoke as one having authority. He taught with authority.
Boldness, confidence, authority, and ease are distinguishing marks of leaders. A person with the spirit and state of a king carries himself differently.
In all my messages to honor Fathers, I always want to honor my Father, Thomas A. Floyd and the father of my children, Don H. Sissom.
There is another father I want to honor today. He was one of the father’s of this church. That is Prophet Stanley Rankin. He is in Heaven now enjoying his eternal home.
I received a letter this week from his wife, Joyce Rankin, honoring him through the love of their mentally challenged son, John.
I will close by reading this letter dated June 2018.
Today I am blessed to honor each of the fathers and men of this church with a gold, crown, lapel pin.
