(Genesis (9: 1-3)

Text is from study notes of Principles of Present Truth by K.V.
“And God blessed Noah
and his sons, and said unto them, be fruitful, and multiply, and
replenish the earth. And the fear of you and the dread of you shall be
upon every beast of the earth, and upon every fowl of the air, upon all
that moves upon the earth, and upon all the fish of the sea; into your
hand are they delivered. Every moving that that lives shall be meat
for you; even as the green herb have I given you all things.”
Comparison of Noah with Jesus.
- Noah’s name means rest. (Gen. 5: 28-29 – Matt. 11:28: “Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”
- He found Grace in the eyes of the Lord. (Gen. 6:8 – Matt. 3:17:” and a voice from heaven saying, this is my beloved son of whom I am well pleased.”
- He was a just and righteous man. (Gen. 6:9 – Lk. 23:47: “Now when the centurion saw what was done, he glorified God, sayings, certainly this was a righteous man.”
- He was perfect in his generations. (Gen. 6:9 – Lk. 1: 35:”And the angel answered and said unto her, the Holy Ghost shall come upon you, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow you; therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of you shall be called “the Son of God”.
- He walked with God. (Gen. 6:9 – Lk. 2:52: “And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and man.”
- He was given work to do. (Gen. 6:9 – Lk. 2:52 """
- He alone did the work. (lev. 16:17; 1 Pet. 2:24) "Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes you were healed."
- He saved his house. (Heb. 11:7; 3:6; Rom 8:21)"Because the creature itself also shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God."
- He had headship and dominion over creation. (Gen. 6:29; 9:2; Heb. 1:2)"hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he has appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds;
- He was a food provider. ( Gen. 6:21; Jn. 6:48)
- He was obedient. (Gen. 6:22; Phil. 2:8)
- He brought all that the Lord had given him to the new earth. (Gen. 8: 18-19; Jn. 18:9)
- He offered burnt offerings unto the Lord. (Gen. 8:20; Eph. 5:2)
- He was blessed with sons. (Gen. 9:1; Eph. 1:3)
- He and his sons were established in the covenant (Gen. 9-8-9: “And God spoke unto Noah, and to his sons with him, saying, and I, behold, I establish my covenant with you, and with your seed after you; And with every living creature that is with you, of the fowl, of the cattle, and of every beast of the earth with you; from all that go out of the ark, to every beast of the earth. And I will establish my covenant with you; neither shall all flesh be cut off any more by the waters of a flood to destroy the earth. And God said, this is the token of the covenant which I make between me and you and every-living creature that is with you, for perpetual generations; I do set my bow in the cloud, and it shall be for a token of a covenant between me and the earth.”
Hebrews 13:20: “Now the God of peace, that brought from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant.
There are six unconditional eternal covenants in the bible. These are sometimes called Royals Grants:
1. Noahic; 2. Abrahamic - A; 3. Phinehas; 4. Davidic; 5. Rebellious Israel; 6. Jesus Christ of Nazareth.
NOAH’S ARK (continued from Sunday a.m. sermon notes)
The
Ark came to rest in a new Age, a new earth wherein dwelled God’s
righteousness. 11 Peter 3:13: “Nevertheless we, according to his
promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwells
righteousness.” This righteousness was in the person of Noah and his
family.
THE FLOOD
(Genesis 7: 1-24)
The same flood
that destroyed the wicked (7:21-22) “And all flesh died that moved
upon the earth, both of fowl, and of cattle, and of beast, and of every
creeping thing that creeps upon the earth, and every man: All in whose
nostrils was the breath of life, and of all that was in the dry land,
died.” Lifted righteous Noah above the earth 7:17 “And the flood was
forty days upon the earth; and the waters increased, and bare up the
ark, and it was lifted up above the earth.” In Noah’s day the wicked
were taken in judgment and the righteous were left to inherit the
earth. (Matt. 24: 37-41; Lk. 17:27) Noah was not removed from the
earth but was kept during the hour of trial.
The flood was for
40-days and nights. (7:12) this is the number of testing and trial.
(Rev. 3:10) The Flood denotes a time of tribulation in the earth.
(Matt. 24:21) All the “high hills” of the Pride of man were covered
up. (7:19) all that lived in the dry land of rebellion perished. (7:22;
Psa. 68:6)
It is interesting to not that the description of the Flood that is given in Genesis 7:11 describes the Holy Ghost Baptism:
(1) “The same day were all the fountains of the Great Deep broken up.”
(2) “And the windows of heaven were opened”.
Note the time that Noah spent in the Ark protected from the Flood:
- Noah went into the Ark 7-days before the Flood began. (7:4, 10)
- It began to rain on the 17th day of the 2nd month of Noah’s 600th year. (7:11)
- It rained for 40 days. (7:12)
- The waters prevailed for 150 days. (7:14; 8:3)
- The Ark rested on the 17th day of the 7th month. (8:4)
- Noah removed the Ark’s covering on the 1st day of the 1st month of his 601st year. (8:13)
- He went out of the Ark on the 27th day of the 2nd month. (8: 14-19)
Thus Noah was in the Ark for 1-year and 17 days: 5 months floating and 7 months on the mountain.
THE DOVE AND THE RAVEN
(Genesis 8: 6-12)
The
DOVE speaks of the Spirit of Christ and the RAVEN speaks of the Spirit
of Anti-Christ. These two forces are loose during a time of
tribulation. It is very interesting to note that this year I have seen
more doves than I ever remember seeing. They are all around my house.
It is also worthy to note that the raven’s fed Elijah.
The DOVE
would not light upon the corruption of dead flesh. So the Spirit of
God will not rest upon dead flesh. The raven, however, feeds upon
death and corruption. To be carnally minded is death. (Rom 8: 1-6).
There
is an allegory here also. Like the raven, the LAW was first sent but
brought no tidings of the assuaging of the waters of God’s wrath, with
which the world of mankind was deluged. Therefore, in the fullness of
time, God sent forth his Gospel, as the DOVE, in the likeness of which
the Holy Ghost descended, and this presents us with an olive-branch,
the symbol of peace, and brings in a better hope.
The DOVE
returning with the BRANCH would also point to the Branch Man that is
mentioned in Jeremiah 33 and Zech. 6. This truth relates to the two
witnesses or Son of Oil in Rev. 11 and Zech. 4 upon who rests the
seven-fold anointing of the seven spirits of God. (Isa. 11: 1-2; Rev.
4-5)
NOAHIC COVENANT
(Genesis 8: 20-9;17):
Note that the Covenant was based upon Sacrifice
(8: 20-22) “And Noah built an altar unto the Lord; and took of every
clean beast, and of every clean fowl, and offered burnt offerings on
the altar. And the Lord smelled a sweet savor; and the Lord said in
his heart, I will not again curse the ground any more for man’s sake;
for the imagination of man’s heart is evil from his youth; neither will
I again smile any more every thing living, as I have done, While the
earth remains, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and
winter and day and night shall not cease.”
God
responds to an odor of a sweet smell. (Eph. 5:2) “And walk in love, as
Christ also has loved us, and has given himself for us and offering and
a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling savor.”
- The faithful promise of seedtime and harvest.
- The faithful promise that the ground would be cursed again.
- The order of nature was confirmed.
- Noah and his sons were commanded to increase and to subdue the earth.
- A meat diet was permitted but not with the blood.
- Human government (capital punishment) was instituted.
- The rainbow was given as the sign of the Covenant.
