HIS MAJESTY

HIS MAJESTY

Sunday, June 2, 2024, the Year of Our Lord

Pastor Carolyn Sissom

In our “Glory and Power” meetings this past week, Revivalist Keith Miller brought us to the Throne of God’s Majesty.  He received a visitation of the Lord whereby the LORD showed him a vision of His majesty. Though we were few, under the power of Christ’s glory, the presence and flow of the Holy Spirit in “Glory and Power,” filled the house and each one who are seeking Him and looking for His appearing in visitation, revival and harvest received and were encouraged.  Yes, we are so near, and so close to this mighty breakthrough of the next wave of Glory.

When Jesus came the first time, only a few were eyewitnesses of His majesty.

My Lord and my God’ cried Thomas.  I have seen the Lord’, exclaimed Mary Magdalene.  We have seen his Glory’ declared John.  Were not our hearts burning within us when He talked?’ rejoiced the Emmaus bound disciples.  But Peter said it best, ‘We were eyewitnesses of His majesty’.

“His Majesty---The emperor of Judah.  The Soaring Eagle of eternity.  The Noble Admiral of the Kingdom.  All the splendor of heaven revealed in a human body.  For a period ever so brief, the doors to the throne room were open and God came near.  His majesty was seen.  Heaven touched the earth and as a result, earth can know heaven.”(Lucado)

Saturday afternoon I started a word study on majesty, which is an expression of His glory.  My heart rejoices when I preach on “his glory.”  Oh how I have wished so many times for the vocabulary of heaven to describe His glory.  The past two evenings through the worship of our praise team and the anointing flowing through Brother Keith, the presence was so tangible it is more than we can contain in our physical bodies.  Oh Jesus, enlarge our spirits that we may receive more of your presence and glory.

1 Ch. 16:27:  Honor and majesty are before Him; strength and gladness are in His place.

“(hod H1935) splendor, majesty, vigor, beauty, comeliness, excellency, glorious, glory, goodly, honor.” (Strong’s)

To those to whom Christ in us is our “hope of glory” by His resurrection from the dead, he is also our life of present grace.  This is that glory which the angels long to behold, the mystery they “desire to look into(1 Pet. 1:12).

1 Peter 1: 3-4;12: Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to His abundant mercy has begotten us again to a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an inheritance incorruptible, undefiled; and does not fade away; and is reserved in heaven for us …which things the angels desire to look into.

This is a mystery which can only be received by faith, the Holy Spirit, meditation on the Word, and meditation on Christ Himself.  This is a glory whose beams are so wonderful that the blind world cannot see their light and beauty and so deny the incarnation of God.  Nevertheless, this is the glory of our faith, the glory of the church, the only rock on which it was built, the only source of present grace and future glory.

Jesus Christ is God and man in one person.  In him is the one, eternal, infinite, immense, almighty, the form and essence of God.

1 Ch. 29:11-14: Yours, O LORD, is the greatness, the power and the glory, the victory, and the majesty; (hod) for all that is in heaven and in earth is Yours.  Yours is the kingdom, O Lord, and You are exalted as head overall.  Both riches and honor come from You, and Your reign overall.  In your hand is power and might.  In Your hand it is to make great and to give strength to all.  Now therefore, our God, we thank You and praise Your glorious name. But who am I and who are my people, that we should be able to offer so willingly as this?  For all things come from You, and of Your own we have given You.

Job. 37:22:  He comes from the north as golden splendor, with God is awesome majesty.

Psa. 21:5: His glory is great in Your salvation; Honor and majesty you have placed upon him.

Psa. 29:4: The voice of the LORD IS POWERFUL.  The voice of the LORD is full of majesty.

Ps. 45:2-4:  You are fairer than the sons of men; Grace is poured upon your lips.  God has blessed you forever.  Gird your sword on your thigh, O Mighty One, Your splendor and your majesty! In your majesty ride on victoriously for the cause of truth, meekness, and righteousness.  Let your right hand teach you awesome things... (6) Your throne, O god, is forever and ever; a scepter of Your kingdom.

“Grace is poured into His lips”.  By his word, his promise, and his gospel, the goodwill of God is made known to us and the good work of God is begun and carried on in us.

The word of God is the sword of the Spirit.  By the promises of that word, and the grace contained in those promises, souls are made willing to submit to Jesus Christ and become his loyal subjects.  He goes forth in his glory and his majesty a great king triumphant over death, hell, and the grave.  In his gospel, he is great, excellent, bright and blessed in the honor and majesty which the Father has laid upon him!

Christ both in his person and in his gospel had nothing of external glory or majesty to charm and awe men.  He took upon himself the form of a servant.  However, he carried the majesty of His authority so majestically that the church leaders dared challenge him to reveal the secret of his power, “under whose authority are you?”

“In thy majesty ride on victoriously for the cause of truth, meekness and righteousness.”

Messiah is a conquering King.  Men are brought to believe on him because he is true and to learn of him because he is meek.  The gentleness of Christ is a mighty force.  Yet His right hand will teach terrible things.  The right hand is a symbol of power.    This means to stand in awe in fear and trembling.  The heart must be pricked, conscience must be startled, and the terrors of the Lord must make way for his consolations.

Psa. 93:1: The LORD REIGNS, He is clothed with majesty.  The LORD is clothed.  He has girded Himself with strength.  Surely the world is established, so that it cannot be moved.

This is a declaration of Omnipotent Sovereignty of Yahweh.  This is the conviction of His absolute power.  His attributes of majesty and strength are described as royal robes.  He is monarch by virtue of His work of creation.  It is He who has made the world secure and unmovable.  Creation is proof of the antiquity of His Kingship.  He is no pretender to another’s throne.  His Kingship is established of old and is everlasting.

Opposition rears its ugly head, and in alarm the community turns to God afresh.  The seas or ocean currents speak of hostility and evil. (Verse 3) The floods have lifted up their voice; the floods lift up their waves; The Lord on high is mightier than the noise of many waters, yea, than the mighty waves of the sea.   This is divine triumph over the forces of chaos or any menace to God’s rule over the earth.  His will is the law and His presence is the Temple throne room.   His spiritual laws, and covenant terms are as reliable as the natural laws of the world.

To the world system and nations of the earth, the Lord has spoken.  He has decreed:

Deut. 33:29:  Happy are you, O Israel.  Who is like you, a people saved by the LORD, the shield of your help, and the sword of your majesty!  Your enemies shall submit to you, and you shall tread down their high places.

Job. 37:22: He comes from the north as golden splendor, with God is awesome majesty.

The wicked in the world are underestimating Him.  The Psalmist bravely challenges the government of man in Psalm 94:8:  Understand, you brutish among the people: and you fools, when will you be wise?  He that planted the ear, shall He not hear?  He that formed the eye, shall He not see?  He that chastises the heathen, shall not He correct:  He that teaches man knowledge shall not He know?  The Lord knows the thoughts of man, that they are vanity… (V.15) But judgment shall return to righteousness; and the entire upright in heart shall follow it.  Who will rise up for me against the evildoers? Or who will stand up for me against the workers of iniquity? (V.22) But the Lord is my defense; and my God is the rock of my refuge.  He shall bring upon them their own iniquity and shall cut them off in their own wickedness; yea the Lord our God shall cut them off.

His glory is the ruin of Satan and his kingdom.

To Satan’s eternal confusion and ruin, his destruction is accomplished and accompanied with everlasting shame.  He is overthrown by the power of Christ’s two natures united in one person.  Now the power of these two natures resides in all who have received the glory of the salvation of Christ by the preaching of the gospel through the Holy Ghost sent down fomr heaven. (1 Pet. 1:12)

This is the glory on which lies the foundation of the church.  The foundation of the whole creation was laid in an act of absolute sovereign power when God hung the earth on nothing. The foundation of the church is on this mysterious, immovable Rock of the union of the divine and human natures of the person, Jesus Christ, the Son of the living God.

93:5:  Your testimonies are very sure; holiness adorns Your house; O LORD; forever.

Psa. 96:6:  Honor and majesty are before Him; strength and beauty are in his sanctuary.

Psa. 104:1: Bless the LORD, O my soul!  O LORD MY GOD; You are very great; You are clothed with honor and majesty.

Psa. 96:6:  Honor and majesty are before Him; strength and beauty are in his sanctuary.

Psa. 104:1: Bless the LORD, O my soul!  O LORD MY GOD; You are very great; You are clothed with honor and majesty.

Psa. 145:5:  I will mediate on the glorious splendor of Your majesty; and on Your wondrous works.

Decree to the heathen, “the LORD reigns.”  Loud must be his praise, the splendor and majesty, the power and glory which are his attributes.  declare His glory among the heathen.  His wonders among all people.  For the Lord is great, and greatly to be praised; He is to be feared above all gods.  For all the gods of the nations are idols; but the Lord made the heavens.  Honor and majesty are before him:  strength and beauty are in His Sanctuary.  Give to the Lord, O you kindreds of the people, give to the Lord glory and strength.  Give to the Lord the glory due to His name; bring an offering and come into his courts.  O worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness; fear before Him, all the earth. Say among the heathen that the Lord reigns; the world also shall be established that it shall not be moved; He shall judge the people righteously…Before the Lord, for He comes, for He comes to judge the earth; He shall judge the world with righteousness and the people with His truth.”

“We are the herald of this royal status.  Jesus’ right to the throne is established upon creation, the Word became flesh, and judgment.  In creating the world, He has established it fast against any threat.  He it is who maintains the moral order as well as the physical, and intervenes to correct oppression.  The order of nature in creation and the order of history in judgment are planned by God in such a way that they are tuned to each other and supplement each other.  Both have a common goal the realization of the righteousness of the Lord and His plan of salvation.  So, with the story of His worth/ Let the whole world ring!” (S. G. Stocks)

This stained world is to be restored so that it perfectly reflects God’s righteous rule.  He is in us, and we are ascending into Zion.  His Lordship, Government, and Kingdom is coming in fullness in His people!  Let us arise in our heritage and inheritance.

.

Psa. 145:5; 12:  I will mediate on the glorious splendor of Your majesty. And on Your wondrous works… To make known to the sons of men His mighty acts; and the glorious majesty of His kingdom.

Mic. 5:4: He shall stand and feed His flock in the strength of the LORD; in the majesty of the name of the LORD, His God; and they shall abide.    He shall be great to the ends of the earth.

There were many visitations in the Old Testament which show forth his glory.  Such was the vision which Isaiah had, “when he saw his glory, and spoke of him(Jn. 12:41).  Isaiah saw a representation of the glory of the divine presence of Christ filling his human nature, the temple of his body, with a train of all glorious graces.  What Isaiah saw was so glorious that even the seraphim could not bear to look at the glory.

Then we know of the revealed glory which his three disciples saw on the Mount of Transfiguration of which Peters speaks: 2 Peter 1: 17-18: He received from God the Father honor and glory, when there came such a voice to Him from the excellent glory.  this is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.”

Lk. 9:43:  They were all amazed at the majesty of God.

“(Megaleiotes G3168) of the visible splendor of the divine majesty as it appeared in the transfiguration of Christ.  Glory of splendor; magnificence; mighty power.”

Heb. 1:3: Who being the brightness of His glory and the express image of His person and upholding all things by the word of His power, when He had by Himself purged out sins, sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high.

This glory of Christ in his divine-human person, raised from the dead, seated at the right hand of God the Father with all power over heaven and earth is the best, the most noble and beneficial truth that we can think about or set our hearts on.

Every sacred truth that reveals something of the glory of Christ to us is a pearl or precious stone which enriches us.  When we discover this pearl of great price, our soul is catapulted with joy into the realm of the Spirit.

By the light of the knowledge of Christ which we have by the Holy Spirit and the Word of God, we can expect to have fellowship with him in beholding his glory.

Christ is always accompanied with the glorious train of his graces.  Not only is His grace toward us and for us; but it is for others.  I may boast of knowing Christ, but if there is no evidence of his grace in my heart and life, then my boasting is foolish.

As Christians and through the Holy Spirit, we experience the power of Christ’s life in us as we continually delight in him.  When he comes again, it will be to be admired in all who believe.  As we behold the glory of Christ through His Parousia, His Word, and the Holy Spirit, we will continually go from faith to faith and from glory to glory.

Let Christ’s glory fill our hearts with love, admiration, adoration, and praise to him.  In so doing, our souls will be transformed into His Majesty, Glory and Power.  We will experience living in Christ in glory.  He is our “hope of glory,” but we are invited to live in His Glory.

Thank you Brother Keith Miller for stirring our hearts with the power and glory of Christ with refreshing and strength.
