Psalms 20 and 21

I am decreeing Psalms 20 and 21 over the inauguration of President Donald J. Trump, his family; Vice President J. D. Vance, his family; and the cabinet of the Trump Administration.

Psalms 20 and 21 have been widely used for national holidays, coronations, inaugurations, and other special events connected with warfare.  It is quoted by saints from all ages particularly in reference to spiritual warfare.

St. Patrick quoted and decreed Psalm 20 when he defied the Druids and dared to celebrate Easter services at the time of their “holy fire” ceremonies.  The king sent soldiers, horses, and chariots for him, and he quoted verse 5 all the as he marched toward the battle.  By the Word of the LORD, he overcame them and established Christian worship in Ireland.

The phrase “the king” in Psalms 20 and 21 speaks of anyone in a place of authority (ruler, civil, domestic, spiritual, etc.)  It certainly speaks to the Office of President of the United States, which in the 21st century is the most powerful office in the earth.  Ultimately it speaks of the everlasting dominion, power, and Kingship of the Lord Jesus Christ who is sovereign over all kings and kingdoms now and forevermore.

Rev. 1: 5-6: “Jesus Christ…the ruler over the kings of the earth.  To Him who loved us and washed us from our sins in His own blood, and has made us kings and priests to His God and Father…”

Psalm 20 believed to be written by David.  The king is about to lead his armies forth against an aggressor.  The enemies are identified as the Ammonites (Palestinians) and Syrians (2 Samuel.)  These nations used horses and chariots in warfare, a thing forbidden to the Israelites.

Verses 1-3 are the prayers of the people who have assembled.

20:1-3: May the LORD answer you in the day of trouble.

May the name of the God of Jacob defend you.  May he send you help from the sanctuary and strengthen you out of Zion.  May He remember all your offerings and accept your burnt sacrifice.  SELAH.

Verse 4: words of the High Priest.

20:4: May He grant you according to your heart’s desire and fulfill all your purpose.

Verse 5:  words spoken by David and his attendants. Before going into battle, David brings his men to the temple, and they are set in array, banners flying, while he goes in to offer sacrifice to the LORD.

20:5: We will rejoice in you salvation, and in the name of our God, we will set up our banners!

High Priest:  5b: May the LORD fulfill all your petitions.  Now I know that the LORD saves His anointed.  He will answer him from His holy heaven with the saving strength of His right hand.

Verses 7-8: David and his men:

20: 7-8: Some trust in chariots, and some in horses; but we will remember the name of the LORD our God.  They have bowed down and fallen; but we have risen and stand upright.

Congregation:

20:9: Save, LORD! May the King (Jesus) answer us when we call.

The people of the commonwealth of Great Britain have a special claim upon this Psalm, for it is the origin of their national Hymn, “God Save the Queen.” But, we in America have an even greater claim because out of their hymn, our own “My Country Tis of Thee” was born.  In it we have a line that expresses the true meaning of verse 9:

“Protect us by thy might, Great God our King!”

In this Year of the Lord, 2025, every verse of this Psalm is given special meaning.  The LORD has indeed heard out prayers in this day of worldwide trouble, wars, inflation, national disasters, and lawlessness. He has taught us the power of His sacred name and the power of His Word as we decree it under the authority of the Blood of Jesus.  He has again shown us the power of His Word to defend us.   He has sent His help from His sanctuary/Zion (the place of His presence), accepted our offering and sacrifices, both material and spiritual, and granted us a New Day with a New Hope in Him of a safer world, and the hope of a Great Harvest of souls.

All glory of Victory is to the LORD JESUS CHRIST.  He teaches us the way of praise and rejoicing.  He demonstrates His constant protection over His anointed ones.  The saving strength of His right hand is evident.  We indeed, remember and rehearse the name of the LORD.  Again and again, we see the enemy fall to the dust, while we are raised to stand in worship and victory before the LORD as His glory and presence surround and consume us.

Wonderful, Great is our King Jesus and His Kingdom being established on earth as it is in Heaven.

Psalm 21 is David’s Triumphant song, the Psalm of the King and the Royal Triumphal Ode.  It is his thanks for victory after the battle.  It is the Psalm of the exaltation of the Christ, the rewarder of all those who diligently seek Him.   O’ Christian, surely, we have diligently sought God to save America during these past four years of lawlessness, tyranny, corruption, and godless government.

21:1-4:  The king shall have joy in Your strength, O LORD, and in Your salvation how greatly shall he rejoice!  You have given him his heart’s desire and have not withheld the request of his lips.  SELAH.  For You meet him with the blessings of goodness.  You set a crown of pure gold upon his head.  He asked life from You, and You gave it to him--- Length of days forever and ever.

The battle is over.  The victory is won, and the assembled people sing the song of victory.  The king trusted in Jehovah and was sustained, supplied, and led forth in triumph.  The enemies who intended and planned evil against Jehovah are swallowed up, destroyed and totally overcome.

All of the enemies of the United States of America and of Donald J. Trump are now falling at his feet totally surrendered and defeated.  I believe Donald J. Trump is a patriot.  His heart is for saving the United States of America from all our enemies domestic and foreign that we may worship our God and live in peace and prosperity.

We must continue to pray for him that he does not succumb to the traps of power which cause men to seek after their historical legacy above the welfare of the people they govern.

Psa. 21:7-9:  For the king trusts in the LORD, and through the mercy of the Most High he shall not be moved.  Your hand will find all Your enemies; Your right hand will find those who hate You.  You shall make them as a fiery oven in the time of Your anger.  The LORD shall swallow them up in His wrath, and the fire shall devour them.

This speaks of the everlasting dominion, power, and kingship of the Lord Jesus Christ, but also to His called, chosen, and anointed to rule in the kingly anointing.

Jer. 50:41: Behold…many kings shall be raised up from the ends of the earth.”

The kingly anointing is a God given and appointed anointing for ruling and reigning, dominion and for government.  It is also an anointing for prevailing.  It has strength and might to push back the forces of darkness and take new ground.

Not many can handle such an anointing or hold on securely to the kingly office.  King Saul couldn’t.  He attained but could not maintain the position because he did not have the character to contain it.   Sadly, many in ministry and/or government fall not long after receiving this powerful and authoritative anointing.

Therefore, God in His wisdom and love will not bestow this kingly anointing on just anyone, nor will He simply bequeath it to the unprepared.  The preparations for the ministry of kings are usually extensive and intensive.  And it usually involves seasons of breaking and times of brokenness.  That’s the main reason why God allowed David to dwell in the caves and wilderness for a rather lengthy season before He elevated David to the palace.

The deeper the breaking, the more powerful the call.  Donald J. Trump has been broken more than any leader in my lifetime.  Who could possibly covet the call to greatness when the cost is so high?

Psa. 21:11-12: They intended evil against You.  They devised a plot which they are not able to perform.  Therefore, You will make them turn their back.  You will make ready Your arrows on Your string toward their faces.

The Kingly anointing is very powerful and poses a great threat to the realm of darkness.  The enemy will go all out to prevent one from breaking into and getting established in this higher level of anointing.  The enemy will mount the fiercest spiritual attacks and put up the most stubborn obstruction.  The early and preemptive attacks, obstructions, and distractions are intended to prevent one from fully transitioning into the new anointing and from being established as king.  Once a person is established (set and firmly planted) in this anointing, there will be a stability and strength that the enemy finds more difficult to come against.

2 Sam 5:12: So, David knew that the Lord had established him as king over Israel, and that He had exalted His kingdom for the sake of His people Israel.

The kingly anointing is one of the most powerful anointings that an individual can possibly carry.  There is perhaps only one other mightier anointing which a mortal can carry---the weighty Glory anointing.  There are those carrying a measure of this weight and are prepared in the crucible of pressure.

Many potential kings have not pursued their call and failed to fulfill their full destiny.  These may not fully realize that their failure to pursue and enter into their full destiny will not only deprive themselves of priceless blessings and glory, but many others would also be deprived of the blessings that could have flowed through their kingly ministry.

Well done, good and faithful servant:  you were faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things.

Rev. 3:11: “Behold, I am coming quickly!  Hold fast what you have, that no one may take your crown.”

Where there is a scarcity of kings, a nation and churches will experience logistic problems.  When some abdicated kings refuse their calling or if an evil king is ruling, a vital supply to the nation and the Body of Christ is cut off.   One cannot function in the kingly office without first receiving the kingly anointing.  We saw this in Joe Biden.  He was never anointed to be President.

Kings have the anointing, authority, and power to declare and decree in the Spirit.  Things happen when they exercise this authority under the anointing.  The spiritual; and angelic realm recognize and respond to true spiritual authority and anointing.

Ec. 8:4: Where the word of a king is, there is power; and who may say to him, “What are you doing?

Job. 22:28:  You will also declare (decree) a thing, and it will be established for you; so light will shine on your ways.

1 Sam. 13:14:  The Lord has sought for Himself a man after His own heart, and the Lord has commanded him to be commander over His people…

In this Third Day, we shall have more revelation concerning Christ the King as revealed in the gospel of Matthew and symbolized by the face of a lion.  The ministry and manner of kings shall be manifested more and more in this dispensation than in the ages’ past.  Many kings of the Lord shall be raised up from the ends of the earth.  When these kings begin to stand in their office, and to fulfill their function faithfully, we shall see more rapid and forceful advancements in the Kingdom of God on earth.
