STAR WARS and "I WILL MAKE YOU A GREAT NATION."

STAR WARS and

I WILL MAKE YOU A GREAT NATION

Sunday, July 6, 2025, the Year of Our Lord

Pastor Carolyn Sissom

My heart is sad for the devastation of the catastrophic flood in Kerrville and Central Texas.  I have an emotional attachment to Kerrville. Shanna and Trey own a beautiful property there which has been a great blessing to me as a retreat of rest and renewal.  Their property is high on a ledge above the creek below, and no damage.  But the loss of life especially those little girls at the Christian Camp have weighed heavy in my soul for their terror and the unspeakable grief of their parents.  We will pray this morning for the families and community which holds a place in my heart.

 STAR WARS

I have another report to make to our congregation this morning.  In last weeks’ sermon, I offhanded mentioned having a dream about Star Wars and confessed I had never seen a Star Wars’ movie nor a television episode.  In the dream, I was preaching to a large group of 20–30-year-olds.  Even though last Sunday I preached a great 4th of July patriotic message, I don’t think anyone heard anything I said.  The only conversation after service, at lunch, and Sunday Evening Prayer Service was about Star Wars; not to mention throughout the week.

I have since dutifully watched the movies.  After the interest and enthusiasm, I encountered, I was stumped as to why this cultural phenomenon had not been a noticeable part of my daughters’ formative years.  I asked both of them, and it seems they were more deposited than I was aware (smile).  The movies are “PG” and they were only allowed to watch “G.” During those years, I would have been horrified by the demonic characters in the movie.  Just sayin’ “The gross characters in “The return of the Jedi” almost shut me down.  I determined only a 12-year- old-boy would be entertained by what appeared gross to me.

My education of the Star Wars’ phenomena, though not complete, has at least accelerated into the 20th century. Not going so far as to say the 21st century.

What is my conclusion of the matter? Certainly, the movies are a proverb and allegory of the battle between good and evil.  I see the evil to take over the “Republic” to be aligned with the spirit of antichrist and his role through history for a “One World Order,” i.e., one world ruler, one world government.  The “Resistance” reflects the “remnant church”- “Ecclesia.” As each movie ends, it appears the Resistance has been weakened by the evil Galactic Empire.  “The Force” is a supernatural power given to “chosen” individuals with a nod to the Holy Spirit.  Not only do we see the galactic evil forces or powers and principalities, but we see the battle within the “chosen” as they overcome their own failures and innate human weaknesses.  The Dark side (Sith) (or Darths) succumbed to their lower natures retaining supernatural powers thus representing the dark side of human nature controlled by Satan and demonic powers.  These leaders who have sold their soul to Satan lead nations into wars, destruction, tyranny, and corruption, These represent supreme leaders and/or dictators who are possessed with evil Satanic power.

This is not to simplify a very complex movie which covers the spectrum of humanity by using humanoids and drones.

So, what did I see prophetically?  This is an allegory of the warfare the remnant church has experienced in the past 50-years.  We, the remnant church persevered in Faith, Prayer, the Word of God, and the Power of the Holy Spirit.  If we looked at circumstances it appeared over and over that we were losing and not winning.  That is until 2024, we and others like us answered the call.  We stayed on the wall.  We decreed and declared the written Word of God and the Word spoken by 21st century prophets.

Yes, like the allegory of Star Wars, God’s chosen leaders in the United States have defiled God’s plan.  However, God is not limited by man’s failures.  God can hit straight with a crooked stick.  Like Israel, God has chosen our nation to be an instrument of His great power and the revelation of His Son, Jesus Christ to the world.

The praying, worshiping, church who will not accept defeat arose and God gave us a leader, certainly with the anointing of Cyrus to “subdue nations, whose right hand he holds, breaks in pieces the gates of brass, and cuts asunder the bars of iron.  Last Tuesday, we did a study of Nehemiah.  He was sent by God to rebuild the wall of Jerusalem which had been broken down, restore civil government, and brough revival to a backslidden nation. Nehemiah, as governor, came alongside Ezra the priest who opened the book in the sight of all the people… Ezra, blessed the LORD, the great God.  Then all the people answered, “Amen, Amen” while lifting up their hands.  They bowed their heads and worshipped the LORD with their faces to the ground.  (Neh. 8: 4-18).

Donald J. Trump has restored prayer to the Executive Branch.  He has set up a Faith Office in the White House.  He is giving Glory to God as he is restoring this nation back to the original intent of the founding fathers to dedicate the nation to God and be established upon Kingdom purposes.

It is a new day!  It is a new time!  Our warfare has changed.  We are now winning in the great battle for our faith, our nation, and our belief for a Christian nation.  Suddenly, my warfare sermons no longer apply to this day.  We are in a new place.  All of our songs should now be “Victory.”  As we see these great victories in our nation, let us expect great victories in our personal lives.  Let us expect revival to be ignited in our nation and the nations of the earth.  Let us expect a returning to Jesus Christ, King of King of all nations of the earth, below the earth and above the earth, whose Kingdom lasts forever, world without end.

Genesis 12:2-3: I will make you a great nation; I will bless you and make your name great; and you shall be a blessing.  I will bless those who bless you, and I will curse him who curses you; and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.

This covenant promise was to Abraham.  God promises to:

1.     Give His people a great land.

2.     Make a great nation.

3.     Pour out a great blessing over them.

Gal. 3:7: “Know that they which are of faith, the same are the children of Abraham.”

The restored church together with redeemed Israel are the heirs of the promise that he will make you a great nation.  We as the sons of God, and heirs of the promises through faith are also heirs of Abraham.

When the Founding Fathers set about to establish the foundation that would define America as a nation, they went straight to the source, declaring that all human beings are “endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights…”

Genesis contains this foundational truth that God is the source and beginning of all things.  Our only hope for peace, happiness and true liberty is in the “book of beginnings.”  We witness the creation of heaven and earth through His Word, the creation of male and female in His image, the sanctity of the family, and the beginnings of man’s rebellion and sin.  Then God calling forth a covenant people through whom He brought salvation to all the peoples of the earth who will receive His one and only Son, Jesus Christ.

Romans 4:13-17: The promise that he should be the heir of the world (kosmos) was not to Abraham, or to his seed, through the law, but through the righteousness of faith.  If they who are of the law be heirs, faith is made void, and the promise made of none effect… Therefore, it is of faith, that it might be by grace; to the end the promise might be sure to all the seed; not to those only which are of the law, but to those also who are of the faith of Abraham; who is the father of us all.  (As it is written, I have made you a father of many nations,) …

1 John 5:4: Whatsoever is born of God overcomes the world (kosmos); and this is the victory that overcomes the world, even our faith.

The restored Church, i.e. the Kingdom of God, i.e. the seed of Abraham is that great nation to whom by Faith the promise is given.  It is to the Church that we are to apprehend this faith to overthrow the “kosmos.”

Hag. 2:22: I will overthrow the throne of kingdoms, and I will destroy the strength of the kingdoms of the heathen; and I will overthrow the chariots, and those that ride in them; and the horses and their riders shall come down every one by the sword of his brother.

Ezekiel 21:27:  I will overturn, overturn, overturn it; and it shall be no more, until He comes whose right it is; and I will give it to him.

All ungodly authority will be dealt with---“overthrown” and removed.  Messiah  bears rule in the earth, the exalted One to whom it rightfully belongs.  To His Church he has given this Kingdom authority.

Give Him 15 – Tim Sheets:  “The praying church has risen to the occasion in this season, just as Esther, Deborah, David, Joshua, Caleb, Nehemiah, Haggai, and others did in Israel’s history.  They served God’s purpose in their generation (Acts 13:36).  It is our turn.  We will do so, as did our founders, the spiritual warriors of the first and Second Great Awakenings, Lincoln and his generation and the selfless heroes of two World Wars.

We have answered the call, and now we will persevere.  Because we are partnering with the Supreme Owner and Ruler of the Earth, we will not fail.  America shall be saved because this is God’s will, and He has found a willing people through whom to work.  The Harvest of the ages will be reaped because the Father promised it to His Son, and His Son has raised up a church over which the gates of hell cannot prevail.  This is all guaranteed through the victory of the Cross, the covenant established through the shedding of Christ’s blood, and His overseeing of it (Heb. 7:22).  We, the church, are now spiritual enforcers of this victory, and we will do so.

We will not be intimidated by any shaking, nor any uprising of demonic forces here and around the world.  We can endure the present course correction because we, like Christ, are looking at the joy set before us (Heb. 12:2).  We will not be intimidated by unprincipled and corrupt politicians, judges, dictators, or armies.  We are more than conquerors and know that we cannot be separated from the love of Christ. (Ro. 8: 37-39).  We do not fear any evil, including death (Ps. 23:4).

Our national heritage of bearing the sword against tyranny and abuse is part of who we are.  The Barbary pirates were Muslim pirates who operated from modern day Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, and Libya.   Like the Muslin terrorists of today, they would capture and kill Christians.

In 1783, the United States won its freedom from the British monarchy, which had been paying tribute money to the pirates.  Until Donald J. Trump became President,  tribute money was paid  to Islamic terrorists’ nations by the United States and Europe.   In 1784, the first American merchant ship was seized by pirates from Morocco.  Two more ships were seized in 1785 by Algeria.  In 1786, Thomas Jefferson and John Adams, then the ambassadors to France and Britain met with the Libyan ambassador to Britain, asking why his government was hostile to American ships.  The ambassador’s response as reported by the Continental Congress stated that “it was their right to plunder and enslave.”

This ideology has been part of not only the Muslim world view, but the world view of nations as they impose tariffs as tribute money.

The United States chose to fight the pirates of Barbary rather than pay tribute, as did all the other nations who traded in the Mediterranean Sea.  The decision was bold.  The United States navy was born in March 1794.  Six frigates were authorized.  This new military presence helped lead to the two Barbary Wars along the North African coast.  The First Barbary War was from 1801 to 1805.  The Second Barbary War was in 1815.  Naval victories in 1815 ended tribute payments by the U.S.

Until June 21, 2025,  Iran was attacking and threatening the world through their proxies, Hamas, Hezbollah and Houthi’s.

2015: “… Obama knowingly aided al-Qaeda forces in Syria, how likely is it that he will use his “global police force” against actual Islamic jihadists? I suspect that instead, this global police force will be used to impose the blasphemy laws under the sharia (Islamic law), and to silence all criticism of Islam for the President who proclaimed that “the future must not belong to those who slander the prophet of Islam” (Breitbart – by: Pamela Giller, 10/2/15).

In 1815, the United States navy broke a pattern of international black-mail and terrorism dating back more than 150 years.  The actions of the United States Marine Corps in these wars led to the line “to the shores of Tripoli” in the opening of the Marine Hymn.  Due to the hazards of boarding hostile ships, marine uniforms had a leather high collar to protect against cutlass slashes.  This led to the nickname Leatherneck for U.S. Marines.

Hag. 2:22: “I will overthrow the throne of Kingdoms.”

Haggai prophesies the first “overthrow”.  This word means “to turn about or over; to change; overturn, return, pervert”.  This word describes the “overthrow” of Sodom and Gomorrah, the Midianites and Nineveh.

The same spirit of antichrist sits in the seat or throne of every counterfeit kingdom (2 Thess. 2:3-4).   The beast nature---sinful man---rules in each and every one of them.  He is at war with the Lamb whose throne is above every other throne, kingdom or dominion.

The beast is the Spirit of Anti-Christ is any world ruler or mindset that is in opposition to Jesus Christ.

Jesus defeated the devil and dismantled his kingdom.  Church those who have gone before us fought the good fight of Faith to overcome the “kosmos” in their day.  The Church along side our President, Donald J. Trump has again risen to defeat the devil and dismantle his kingdom through Jesus Christ and the power of the Holy Spirit.

2 Cor. 10: 4-5:  The weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to pulling down of strong holds…”

We have been given our “key” to overcoming the “kosmos”.  It is the Faith that overcomes the world.

This faith demolishes arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God and His Kingdom purposes.  He will overthrow and remove every offense.

1 Peter 1:9: Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls.

On December 17, 1620, a small group of Pilgrims who had left England in search of greater freedom to worship God dropped anchor of the Mayflower at Plymouth Harbor in what is now Massachusetts.  These were the very first individuals and families in whose soul beat the heart of what we now call the “American spirit.”  I believe it was the Holy Spirit.

Their flight from oppression mirrored a much earlier Exodus when God led the children of Israel out of the bondage and oppression of Egypt into a land that he promised Abraham.  Through his mercy and the “Blood of the Lamb,” God delivered his people, placed them at the door of liberty and promised them great success through obedience to His Word and will.

On July 4, 1776, the Declaration of Independence was written.  The Declaration stated that the Americans were set to defend the laws of nature and nature’s God.  The laws of nature were understood to mean the will of God for man.

The church leaders were well schooled in the fact that the Bible placed great emphasis on due submission to civil authorities, they also knew the many passages that approve resistance to ungodly authority.

Peter boldly asserted: “We ought to obey God rather than men(Acts 5:29).
