SCHOOL PRAYER ATTACK

SCHOOL PRAYER ATTACK

Sunday, August 31, 2025

Pastor Carolyn Sissom

This past week, Jen Psaki, former White house Press Secretary scorned and mocked the power of prayer after the Minneapolis shooting at Annunciation Catholic School.  Aligning with her was James Frey, Mayor of Minneapolis.

I have felt the Trump administration will seek to re-institute prayer back into public schools and public assemblies, just as they have re-instituted the right of the states to display the Ten Commandments.   In the United States, organized prayer in public schools is largely prohibited due to Supreme Court rulings, but students can engage in voluntary prayer and religious activities.

On August 20, 2025 prior to the shooting in Minneapolis, Dutch Sheets posted, “When God was Removed from Our Schools:  “The Battle is Real---But We’ve Seen Him Turn the Tide.”

It was June 1962 when the Supreme Court took prayer out of schools.  We were living in Louisiana.  It was 2002 before prayer was taken out of school in that state.

Give Him 15- Dutch Sheets: “In that moment, something foundational shifted.  A daily reminder of our dependence on God was silenced.  The moral compass that had quietly shaped hearts and guided choices was taken out of the hands of the next generation.  At first the changes seemed small.  We removed prayer.  Then the Ten Commandments.  Then God altogether.

Since that time, we’ve seen the unimaginable

l.  Parents removed from school board meetings for opposing    pornographic books.

     2.  Drag shows for kindergartners.

3.     Teachers fired for stating biological facts.

4.     Children are chemically castrated and surgically mutilated ---at times with teachers or counselors encouraging the transitions---while parents are kept in the dark.

5.     A mother addresses the school board confronted a male member wearing lipstick and his late wife’s clothes---this is the confusion shaping policies for our children.

An invisible war is raging for the hearts and minds of the next generation.” (end of quote).

The shooter in Minneapolis was a 23-year old trans-woman who regretted becoming a trans. He saw no way out of his self-imposed prison of confusion except to kill innocent children and then kill himself.

“In April 2023, Gov. Tim Walz signed legislation establishing MN as a “trans refuge” promising to “protect those seeking gender-affirming care,” according to OutFront MN.”

However, the focus of today’s message is not on the failure of our society to save this young man and other men and women like him, but as Christians to STAND for the sanctity of prayer in our schools, institutions, and public square that we may save others.

Ms. Psaki and Mr. Frey are from the generations who were deprived exposure to the peace, security, joy, and comfort that corporate prayer gives to a classroom of children struggling to deal with the issues of life.

The words of Ms. Psaki and Mr. Frey were spoken in “scorn” against prayer and with “contempt” for those of us who know with a certainty the power of prayer.

Contempt is the fruit of pride.

Psa. 123:4: Our soul is exceedingly filled with the scorn of those who are at ease, with the contempt of the proud.

“There is a reason leftists and progressives want to control the narrative.”  This was a narrative put out in contempt of the power of prayer.  “Language shapes culture.  Words influence thinking. Thinking forms beliefs, beliefs create actions, and shape the culture.”

1.      Murder is bad.  Call it “abortion.”

2.     Riots are bad; call them “mostly peaceful” protests.

3.     Reverse racism is bad; call it “DEI- Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.”

4.     Taking people’s hard-earned money is bad.  Call it “democratic socialism.”

5.     De-funding the police is bad (and stupid); call it “reallocating funds.” (Give Him 15 – Dutch Sheets).

Ms. Psaki went past the media witchcraft of “controlling the narrative,” and stepped over into “scorning prayer.”

It was 1989, and I was in a spiritual battle against “scorn and mocking” of my faith, the prophetic giftings, and the call to Pastor.   The Lord spoke to me, “Carolyn, scorn is a curse and is surrounded by walls of hostility and contempt.”

It is clear, the strong man of “Scorn” has had a strong hold over the media for many years.  However, that is all changing because of the years of prayer by Christians.  We are miraculously seeing our prayers for the past 40 years being answered day by day.  After the attack against Prayer this past week, I believe we as intercessors must ‘STAND” strong for our schools, our children, and the restoration of prayer into our schools.  It is on the church to press in and fight this battle.  The time is now to take back our schools.

Let us start by taking down the curse of scorn and the walls of hostility and contempt.  “A curse without cause shall not alight(Prov. 26:2).  We are not under the curse, but the curse has been spoken over the nation and generations of children yet to be saved.

Proverbs 3:33-34: The curse of the Lord is in the house of the wicked, but he blesses the habitation of the just.  Surely, He scorns the scorners; but he gives grace unto the lowly.  The wise shall inherit glory; but shame shall be the promotion of fools.

Walls are constructed by Satan to protect demonic strongholds of demonic activity.  The Lord gave me the instructions to take down the wall of contempt and hostility by the same example He gave to us with the Wall of Jericho.  Speak to the wall seven times saying, “In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth I command the wall of contempt and hostility to fall.”

After taking down the wall, then we are able to appropriate through prayer by Faith, the Holy Spirit and the Blood of Jesus, the power from the Cross to break the curse of scorn.  This is true of every curse.

Once the curse of scorn has been broken, then we are able to bind up the spirits that attach themselves to this strongman.

1.     Churlish- Isa. 32:7:  The instruments and methods of the churl are evil; he devises wicked devices to destroy the poor with lying words, even when the needy speak right. Those spirits under Churlishness are rudeness, mean spirited, surly, miserly, ill-bred, stiff necked, stubborn, troublemaker, impudent, hardened, and obstinate.

2.     Chaldean - i.e., Babylonian:  Hab. 1: 5-11:  For, lo I raise up the Chaldeans, that bitter and hasty nation, which shall march through the breadth of the land to possess the dwelling places that are not theirs.  They are terrible and dreadful their judgment and their dignity shall proceed of themselves.  Their horses also are swifter than the leopards and are fiercer than the evening wolves; and their horsemen shall spread themselves, and their horsemen shall come from far; they shall fly as the eagle that hastens to eat.”

3.     Haman – Esther 3:5-6:  When Haman saw that Mordecai bowed not, nor did him reverence, then was Haman full of wrath; and he thought scorn to lay hands on Mordecai alone; for they had shown him the people of Mordecai; wherefore Haman sought to destroy all the Jews that were throughout the whole kingdom of Ahasuerus even the people of Mordecai.  The spirit of murder also is connected to the strongman of scorn.

4.     Scorpions of the earth – Ez. 2:6: Son of man do not be afraid of them neither be afraid of their words, though briars and thorns be with you, and you do dwell among scorpions; be not afraid of their words, nor be dismayed of their looks though they be a rebellious house. (Rev. 9:1-3; 9:10).

Luke 10:19:  Behold I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy; and nothing shall by any means hurt you.

Luke 23:11:  Then Herod, with his men of war, treated Him with contempt and mocked Him, arrayed Him in a gorgeous robe, and sent Him back to Pilate.

The first drop of the Blood of Jesus Christ fell on the curse of scorn at the Cross.

Last Tuesday, one of the Psalms we covered was Psalm 36.  David contrasts the wicked with the LORD.

36: 1-4: The wicked have no fear of God.  He flatters himself in his own eyes.  The words of his mouth are wickedness and deceit.  He devises wickedness on his bed… He does not abhor evil.

BUT GOD: 36: 5-9:  Your mercy, O LORD is in the heavens.  Your faithfulness reaches to the clouds.  Your righteousness is like the great mountains.  Your judgments are a great deep.  O LORD, You preserve man and beast.  How precious is Your loving kindness, O God!  The children of men put their trust under the shadow of your wings.   They are abundantly satisfied with the fulness of Your house.  You give them drink in the river of Your pleasures.  For with You is the fountain of life.  In Your light we see light.

Psa. 33:12:  .  The counsel of the LORD stands forever.  The plans of His heart to all generations.  Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD.

“Father God, our hearts grieve over the senseless loss of lives in Minnesota.  We ask You to bring comfort and strength to the families involved.  Nothing can remove from them the present grief of their loss, and the trauma to the children that survived will be tremendous.  But You are the healer and the Comforter, and we ask You to do what only You can do.  Comfort them.  We pray once again for a mighty revival that will transform our nation.  Let it be strong enough to undo six decades of damage to the soul and psyche of our nation.  Forgive us for allowing You to be removed from our schools.  Free our children from the resulting confusion, addictions, violence, lack of identity, and purpose.  Introduce them to Your glorious son and their wonderful Savior.  Make them strong in character.  Use them to reform our nation and carry Your light to the nations of the world.  Help us remain faithful during this time of transition in our nation.  Keep the intercessors motivated so that we may finish well.  Don’t allow complacency to enter at this critical time.  All of this we ask in Jesus’ name.  Amen.

We declare that the great revival that has begun will not weaken, but will intensify until it becomes the greatest release of God’s glory the world has ever seen.” (Dutch Sheets – Give Him 15).
