ANGELS AND CHRISTMAS LIGHTS
Sunday, November 30, 2025, the Year of Our Lord

Last Sunday evening, I was preaching on Angels and spoke a prophetic word, “this year there will be an increase of angelic activity in the earth during the Christmas season.” Truly, there is always an increase during Christmas, but this year, I feel the energy of the creation whether by people or the earth itself drawing Heaven to earth.
The Holy Spirit has quickened to me over many Christmases how he reveals himself in Christmas trees, the ornaments, gifts, worship, Christmas lights, and through signs and wonders of the glory of the season as the whole earth shines with Christmas lights.
In 2014, I wrote a Christmas message, “The Glories of Christmas.” When I re-read it last night, I blessed myself, which I am always blessed by the Word every time I preach. Not my preaching ---but the Word of God.
Sissom - 2014 Message: “I saw the Glory of God in the “lights of Christmas”. Isa. 60:1-3: Arise, shine; for your light is come, and the glory of the Lord is seen upon you. For behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the people; but the Lord shall arise upon you and His glory shall be seen upon you. The Gentiles shall come to your light and the kings to the brightness of your rising.
Luke 1:78-79: Zechariah was filled with the Holy Ghost and prophesied…the dayspring from on high has visited us. To give light to them that sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace.
John 8:12: Jesus spoke, saying, ‘I am the light of the world, he that follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.
Though the heathen, unbelievers, and backsliders may turn on their Christmas lights to light their proud cities, they are still participants of the great gatherings of people of the earth of wealth, commerce, and agriculture whose lights are filling the whole earth with the Shekinah Glory as a prophetic “sign” of the King of Glory. (Isa. 60:4)
“The beam that shines on Zion’s hill shall lighten every land.” (M. Bruce).” God’s glory, as manifested in His church, will be like a beacon-light to the surrounding heathen tribes. “The Gentiles shall come to your light and the kings to the brightness of your rising.”
The cities, malls, and villages of the nations of the world are shining with brilliant lights. Whatever their motive, the message resonating through the earth is the same, “Fear not for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.”
I was reading Candace Smithyman’s book, Angels of Fire, and she has a chapter on angels being drawn to the Christmas lights.
Candace Smithyman: “We are to bring heaven to earth and the angels will come and join us. We can create an atmosphere on the earth that is heavenly because we live by faith in Ephesians 2:6: And has raised us up together and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus.
When Paul spoke of the church at Colossians, he said:
Col. 1:3: If you then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sits on the right hand of God. Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. For you are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God.
“Carolyn, I have you hidden in my Omni.” Eastgate Church your address is “Hidden.” We have been sealed into the Word of God being “hid with Christ in God.”
Candace Smithyman: The church’s life is hidden with Christ in God, and our thoughts are to be with Christ seated in Heavenly places. Because of Jesus’ death, burial, resurrection, and ascension to the heavenly seat, we the end-time church now have a new relationship with the Father. We are in the Son of God, no longer separated from the Father.”
We have the Father, Son and Holy Ghost in us, but we are also hidden in Christ in God.
“We are that close to God every day, but we have to live from that heavenly place in spirit, soul, and body on the earth. While we are on the earth, that place is a place of fullness in our spirit and soul. It is not a place of lack, poverty, deficit, or fear. It is not a place of separation. We can be full here in our earthly existence.
The fullness is where the angels reside. Angels come where there is faith. Faith tells us that we are in the ascension place with Jesus. Paul said Jesus’ church rose with Him. It is so important for end-time revival that we know where we are seated. The church of the end times is going to bring revival in the earth because it is already revived. It is full because it is seated with Christ in heavenly places.
Anytime the angels come and join us in our work, they are here to bring heaven to earth. They’re here to change the environment on the earth.
In the end times, as the church is growing in its knowledge and understanding of the ascension of Jesus Christ, it is becoming more powerful. The church has been working along side angels ever since the beginning of time.
We have the capacity to experience angels every day because we are seated with Christ Jesus in heavenly places. By faith that connection with angels is already available to us.” (Candace Smithyman paraphrased).
Kathie Walters: “I believe supernatural visions, Holy Spirit earthquakes, angelic visitations and manifestations of the Holy Spirit are meant to be a part of my life as much as they were a part of life in the early church.”
Carolyn Sissom: Every church which has been called by the Lord has been given an angel. If the church is flowing in the Holy Spirit within the Kingdom of God, it will be a candlestick church. This church has an angel assigned to it. The Pastor of the church also has a pastor-angel assigned to complete his/her kingdom assignment.
“Angels are carriers of the glory presence of God and have His anointing with them when they are dispatched into the earth realm.”
Eph. 1:3: Blessed by the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ who has blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ.
Sissom: I told all of you recently the Lord spoke to me that my words would not fall to the ground. That scared me because I have not felt responsible enough to carry such a mantle. I have been praying for the Lord to help me and show me how to handle such a gift, and what am I to do with it. I decided to start practicing by speaking to plants, creation, and animals before using it for humans.
I bring this up today because in Candace’s book she emphasizes this as part of the fullness of the end-time church.
Smithyman: “In the fullness, you’re going to begin to see the manifestation of the angels coming around. You’re going to begin to walk in greater confidence. You’re going to start declaring, decreeing, and establishing. You’re going to begin to know that you have angels with you that are there to change environments. When you know the will of the Father, you’ll be able to speak His will and know the angels are coming to assist in that.”
Sissom: Yes, I have flowed in all the above for decades. I have Faith for all the above. I speak from the realm of Faith to decree God’s Word and His will. It is my words that that have me concerned. I have decided to speak less and try not to poke fun at myself or other foolishness. I have never taken myself too seriously unless I am preaching or teaching. I take that very seriously. Truth is I don’t take others too seriously unless I hear the Holy Spirit speaking through them.
But today we are talking about the ministry of Angels to assist us in our end-time mission for the Church.
Smithyman: “If we want to see end-time revival, we have to have an ascension mind-set. An ascension mind-set opens us up to living in a heavenly habitation on earth because our spirit and our soul are seated with Christ in heavenly places.
Worship music is an atmosphere that invites angels, with Holy and separated worshipers. We are blessed at Eastgate to have a praise and worship team who live Holy and separated lives unto Christ.
Sissom: But as I started this message with a promise of encouraging all of you to expect a greater manifestation of angels during this Christmas season and a hint of their attraction to Christmas lights. Candace Smithyman had a revelation of the Christmas lights confirming the revelation Christ gave to me.
“Angels migrate to the light.” James 1:17: Every good and perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of the heavenly lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.
Jesus is light. It is an attribute of the Father and Jesus. John 8:12: Then Jesus spoke again unto them saying, “I am the light of the world. He that follows me shall not walk in darkness but shall have the light of life.”
Smithyman: The Lord revealed to me one Christmas that angels migrate around the lights of trees and houses at Christmas time. There is a Spirit of joy, thanksgiving, and peace that rests upon those who are inviting Jesus to come and be with them. He showed me when people celebrate Him by revealing their love through putting out lights and lighting candles then the angels would come and join them in the worship of Him. This truly is the Spirit of Christmas, and where the Spirit of Christ is there are angels. Angels come to cheer on where we are and what we are doing when our hearts are for worshiping Him.
At the birthday of Jesus, there are lights put in cities, towns, state capitals, country monuments, churches, governmental offices, schools, you name it. We, the church, put lights to celebrate the birth of Jesus all over the world. Even in scripture we read about the importance of lights and angels during Christmas time.
People are full of joy at Christmas because they are celebrating Jesus and the angels of joy have come to infiltrate their homes and environments in response. When we show our love for Jesus outwardly, we are positioning ourselves for a release of joy…
When we are in church services worshiping and lighting candles, the angels come to where the light is to give glory to God. We may not see them with natural eyes, but they are there and the more we believe, the more we will see them.”
Sissom: I don’t believe anyone who attends Eastgate Church could leave here without experiencing the presence of angels. Many give testimony of seeing angels. Others feel their presence and, in my case, they actually interact with me while I am worshiping or preaching. During flag worship, the presence of angels is tangible.
The Bible gives us too many recorded instances of angelic visitations to permit a figurative interpretation. These bright and holy beings are clearly represented as having witnessed and participated all along the gradual unfolding of the plan of salvation and redemption. They are in participation with the church on earth as together we minister God’s Kingdom on earth as it is in Heaven.
From the hour when, at creation’s birth, the morning stars sang together, and all the Sons of God shouted for joy---onward to the eventful night when they met over the plains of Bethlehem and the angels sang “Glory to God in the Highest, Peace on earth, good will to men”. Now that Redemption is completed---they have gathered once more at Olivet to form a royal retinue to conduct their Lord to His crown---to summon the gates of Heaven to “lift up their heads” that “the King of Glory may enter in.”
When God, in bringing in His first-begotten Son into the world, said, “Let all the angels of God worship Him (Heb. 1:6);” how much more, when His work is done, and the moral conqueror, laden with the spoils of victory, may we expect “the chariots of God” (twenty thousand, even thousands of angels”) are waiting to grace His triumph.
Angels were definitely employed on earth as Jesus’ servants and attendants during the period of His incarnation. A portion of this glorious bodyguard we find now, at the hour of Ascension, left behind to certify to the disciples and the Church in every age, that Angels continue their loving watchfulness and interest to minister to us who are heirs of salvation. And that we work together to fulfill “thy Kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in Heaven.
Rev. 5: 11: I beheld, and I heard the voice of many angels round about the throne and the beasts and the elders; and the number of them was ten thousand times ten thousand, and thousands of thousands.
The ministry of angels is mentioned 295 times in the Holy Bible (angel 201 times and angels 94 times).
Heb. 12:22: You have come to Mt. Sion, and unto the City of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem and to the innumerable company of angels.
In this city, in the realm of the Third Heaven (the Spirit), we are in the company of angels. Paul does not differentiate between the saints in heaven and those still on earth. You have come. We are seated with them in the heavenlies in Christ (Eph. 2:6). You have come---not you will come. This is not future, but present.
Psalm 72:19: Blessed be His glorious name forever; and let the whole earth be filled with His glory; Amen and Amen.
Tonight and through the Christmas season, if the Lord permits, I will again preach on the ministry of angels.
