John 1:14 TLB; And the Word became flesh and tabernacled among us. We looked upon His glory, the glory of the one and only from the father, full of grace and truth.
In thirty-five years of preaching and teaching on Feast of Tabernacles, my focus continues to reveal Jesus Christ’s fulfilling of all the Feasts of the Old Testament.
All things must be fulfilled, which were written in the Law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms concerning me (Lk. 24:44).
I have preached sermons on each of the following which represent the seven-day Feast.
1. Feast of Unity – Israel left all and came together (one, yet individual) (Eph. 4:13).
2. Feast of Joy –for the harvest (Rom. 14:17).
3. Feast of Ingathering – final harvest (Rev. 14:15).
4. Feast of Rest – enter the land, obtain the promise (Heb. 3:18).
5. Feast of Glory – of the new order (Rev. 21:23).
6. Feast of Restoration – as in the days of Ezra, Nehemiah, Haggai, and Zechariah (Joel 2:25).
7. Feast of the Appearing of the Lord –In Jerusalem, the Church and then in the air (1 Thess. 3:13).
This past week, Phyllis Garrett sent me an article posted in One-For- Israel, a ministry hosted by native born Israelis who are Christians. The article does not name its author but gives us the aspect of Jesus Christ tabernacling among us.
(The Word became flesh and tabernacled among us. We are familiar with the scripture reading “The Word became flesh and dwelt among us.” The Greek word for “dwelt” is “skenoo” and means:” tabernacle”; “to live in a tabernacle”)
“Skeenoo” is only used four other times.
Rev. 7:15: Therefore, they are before the throne of God, and serve him day and night in his temple and he that sits on the throne shall tabernacle among them.
Rev. 12:12: Therefore rejoice, ye heavens, and they that tabernacle in them. Woe to the inhabiters of the earth…
Rev. 13:6: He opened his mouth (dragon) in blasphemy against God, to blaspheme his name, and his tabernacle (skene), and them that tabernacle (skeenoo) in heaven.
Rev. 21:3: I heard a great voice out of heaven saying “Behold the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will tabernacle with them and they shall be his people and God himself shall be with them and be their God.”

Zech 2:10-11: K.J.V. Sing and rejoice O daughter of Zion, for, lo, I come, and I will dwell (sekan) in the midst of you says the LORD. And many nations shall be joined to the LORD in that day, and shall be my people, and I will dwell in the midst of you, and you shall know that the LORD of hosts has sent me unto you.
“God, THE LORD, says He’s coming to live among His people. And remarkably, the One speaking here---who is called Adonai---says He was sent by Adonai. And like all of His words, it all came to pass exactly as He said.
John 1:14 TLB; And the Word became flesh and tabernacled among us. We looked upon His glory, the glory of the one and only from the father, full of grace and truth.
Jesus, who is God incarnate, came to live on earth with us…and was sent by God.
The word incarnate means in carne, meat, or flesh…God clothed in human skin.
Paul the apostle talks about our life in the flesh like this:
For we know that if the tent, our earthly home is torn down, we have a building from God--- a home not made with human hands, eternal in the heavens. For in this we groan, longing to be clothed with out heavenly dwelling---if indeed, after we have put it on, we will not be found naked. For we groan while we are in this tent---burdened because we don’t have to be unclothed but to be clothed, so that what is mortal may be swallowed up by life. (2 Co. 5:1-4.)
Our earthly life in the flesh is likened to living in tents. So Jesus descended from glory to live in an earthly “tent” of human flesh.
In Jeremiah 2, God talks about the time of desert wandering with the Israelites as a honeymoon period, after the official betrothal ceremony of the Sinai covenant. It was a seminal time in Israel’s story, and a part of the journey God doesn’t want us to forget.
Not only were the children of Israel tent dwellers, but God also dwelt in a tent: the Tabernacle, the Tent of Meeting. God had been very clear and specific about how His tent should be constructed, according to the heavenly pattern, which He showed to Moses on Mount Sinai.
The writer of Hebrews refers to this Tabernacle as “the first tent.”
Heb. 9:8: The way into the Holies has not yet been revealed while the first tent is still standing.
Initially, God’s presence was housed in the desert tabernacle, by God’s own initiative. Later, King David would lead the preparations for building the Temple for God, but this was David’s initiative, not God’s. However, that same Shekinah glory would later dwell in the earthly tent of flesh---flesh from the house of David.
Yeshua the Messiah, the Nazarene from the line of Judah, would be the LORD Himself tabernacling among us in a tent of human flesh.
But there’s more! There are more than two tents. Before ascending again to the Father, Jesus promised not to leave us as orphans, but to send the same Holy Spirit, the Shekinah, to dwell in us! WE are now the tents, the tabernacles of the LORD.
The Shekinah, the very Spirit of the LORD, tabernacles in us today. As born-again believers we have all become tabernacles, carrying the presence of God wherever we go.” (End of quote from One-For Israel.)
The Shekinah Glory is the visible, dwelling presence of God, derived from the Hebrew root “shakan” “to dwell,” and used to describe God’s manifest glory---often seen as a cloud or fire in Scripture.
2 Co. 3:18: And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the LORD’s glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the LORD, who is the Spirit.
The Feasts prefigure and typify the whole Church age beginning with the Cross, Jesus Christ, the Passover Lamb, and consummating in the manifestation of the Holy Spirit, the Feast of Pentecost and the glorious display of God’s power and glory of Tabernacles through Christ’s Church.
So, it was the Lord visited the people at the Feast of Tabernacles as it were in secret. Little by little He manifested Himself to the multitudes. He began teaching at the temple and caused them to marvel at His wisdom and knowledge. The officers sent to arrest Him, said, “never a man spoke like this man. When the power and glory of the Feast of Tabernacles begins to dawn upon the Church, God’s people are going to be clothed upon with such power and authority that the nations will have to bow in submission. For the Church shall be literally clothed upon with Divine majesty, the Shekinah Glory.
The Word became flesh and tabernacled among us.
